1987 Porsche 944 Additional Info:
up for sale is a survivor. this 1987 Porsche 944S is 1 out of 3000 made in 87' produced only for 2 years, production for this S model stopped in 88'. this is a prime example of a very good restore project. the car still runs, and recently had some maintenance done, rotor/cap/plugs, thermo fan switch, power steering tensioner rod, had motor mounts done, new fuel lines and has had its ritual oil changes along with filter every 6-7 months. odometer stopped at 124,000, upon getting the car and I've owned it for going on 4 years already, I've been keeping a track of how much I've been putting on it, the 944S gets driven no more than 15 miles a week, for weekly grocery commute to the local publix about 1 mile away, and for her usual cruises around town, there has been no more than 4,500 miles put on the car since it has been in my possession. previous owner had resurfaced and went through the engine head. this 944S does not over heat, or turn off, she has a beautiful, and strong idle, with superb compression on all 4 cylinders, shifts through gears smoothly, clutch feels nice, and stops very well, although it could use a slave cylinder, nothing crazy, still engages perfectly. the original Arctic white paint and body are very in very good condition, considering just the front header panel, and next to the hood that the previous owner told me had happened, some lady backed up in to the nose panel and dented her up a bit, which I've never gone to replacing, and on the left side, near the torsion bar area, there's some rust beginning to form, it just started showing because I've owned the car for more than 3 years and have never seen it until just a few weeks ago, but it's literally not a worry, but new owner should take care of it, so it could still be saved. there's not much to do on this car, tensioner pads should be replaced soon, valve cover gasket, and power steering pump seals, that would literally be all to get this baby mechanically sound. as far as interior aesthetics go, it could use some new rear panels on the back(I've listed a photo), also some reupholstery to the seats, and rear seats towards the upper back part, sunroof needs a new plastic gear but works flawlessly. power mirrors work, everything electrical works on this car, even the fog lamps. this is a car, knowingly that it needs some minor detail work. but you have a gem to start off with, and i'd say a hell of a lot of car to start with, it's the needle in the haystack if you ask me. it's a solid, beautiful automobile ready for someone who can put in the TLC and get her going to showroom condition. Hagerty.com has the 944S going for upmost of $22,000+ sold in "Concourse" condition, that is possible to achieve and probably more, if held on to and completed, this one is not far away. if you have any more questions, please do not hesitate to contact me, I open to all forms of conversation about this vehicle, pertaining Porsche's racing history and more . . cheers and good luck! whoever gets this baby, will be one lucky soul. best luck to all bidders! **NO RESERVE** **contact me if you are local** **will come with factory Porsche steering wheel, thats in awesome shape**
