The Porsche 911 received its first major changes for the 1969 model year, with the most important being the lengthening of the wheelbase by 2.4 inches to improve both the handling and interior space. The wheel openings were flared slightly to accommodate wider wheels and larger tires, ventilating slots were added to the Targa’s “basket-handle” roll bar.
At this time, Porsche was phasing out the Targa’s original zip-out window design, replacing it with a fixed, curved glass rear window. Only a small number of “Soft Window” Targas were constructed as it was considered a “special order” specification.
According to the Porsche Cerfificate of Authenticity this handsome example was deliveredon the 10th of February 1971 in the US.
This particular 911 is chassis number 9111112115 and is one of probably five 2.2T Targa's delivered with the 'soft window' option. (code 437)
According to the Porsche Certificate of Authenticity this example was delivered on the 10th of February 1971 in the US. The previous owner imported the car to Denmark in 2009 and commissioned a glass-out repaint in its original Signal Orange colour. I would quote the paint job as an 8 out of 10.
The interior and engine are original and unrestored. The folding Targa top panel as well as the flexible rear window were recently replaced, and they, along with the original folding frame, are in good condition.
The car can mechanically be described as ‘drivers condition’. To make things perfect the carburetors and gearbox should be overhauled..
This rare Soft Window Targa is a full matching (proven by Porsche COA).
It presents beautifully and could offers its next Porsche enthusiast many more enjoyable miles!!
