1970 Porsche 911 Targa Additional Info:

1970 Porsche 911T Targa In the world of collector cars, there are few vehicles that are more desirable than a 1970s Porsche 911. Thanks to their tossable driving dynamics, classic good looks and legendary build quality, it makes sense why these cars have become so sought after over the past 10 years. This 1970 Porsche 911T Targa is a great driver-quality example of the famed German sports car and is just asking for you to pull out the removable roof panel and drive it all summer long. First sold in February of 1970 through Porsche of Santa Clara in the San Francisco Bay area, the car was originally finished in the very “period” color of Sepia Brown. In the years since, it has been treated to a considerable amount of work to tailor it to subsequent owner’s visions of what they wanted their classic 911 to look like, and today is presented in a far more exciting shade of bright red. Although the paint on this example is not concours quality, it still presents very nicely and means that you can truly use and enjoy the car, without being tremendously concerned about getting stone chips in your pristine paint. Additionally, the brightwork is all in great condition and the bumpers feature AMCO-style bars both front and rear. A set of 5-spoke Fuchs wheels completes the classic 911 look. Like the exterior, the interior has been treated to some upgrades over the years but still retains the classic 911 feel that people are looking for. A set of more heavily bolstered sport seats are upholstered correctly for the interior, and provide much better support than the stock seats that would have been found in this car. Additionally, an updated Blaupunkt head unit with extra speakers in the rear has been added. The Certificate of Authenticity from Porsche indicates that this car was originally equipped with a radio but, this updated unit offers updated functionality while still looking fairly period-correct. Even with these upgrades, the hallmarks of a classic 911 interior remain with the 5 gauges sitting just in front of the driver, framed by a 4-spoke steering wheel. Sitting in the back is Porsche’s legendary Flat-6 which was upgraded the year before from a 2.0 liter to 2.2 liters. This engine would have originally been equipped with Zenith carburetors but those have been swapped out for the more desirable Weber units which help provide more power and are simpler to service. 1970 also represented the final year of the Porsche “901” design gearbox which is immediately identifiable thanks to a “Dogleg” 1-st gear. This 5-speed was used in the 911 since its debut in 1964 but with the introduction of the 2.4 liter engine the following year, was discontinued. Thanks to some recent mechanical servicing, the car starts, runs and drives exactly as well as you would hope and would be a great companion for a vintage rally or even just running around town. With a recent run up in prices of vintage Porsche 911s, truly good deals are few and far between. This 911 T Targa represents a tremendous value and provides all the joy of classic Porsche ownership, without the worry that you may damage your priceless show piece. With the sun coming out and the weather heating up, there is no better time to take out the Targa top, roll down the windows, and enjoy the music coming from that air cooled flat-6 hanging out the back of your 1970 911T. Factory Options Manual Antenna With 4-Speakers Fixed Rear Window Tinted Windshield and Side Glass Additional Information Certificate of Authenticity Some Receipts Service Booklet Original Owners Manual Tool Kit Standard Features 2.2-Liter Flat-6 5-Speed Manual Transmission McPherson Strut Front Suspension Manual Windows Leatherette Interior Full Instrumentation 2+2 Seating For more information on this 1970 Porsche 911T Coupe or any of our 100+ High-Performance, Exotic and Special Interest cars always in stock, contact one of our friendly and knowledgeable sales consultants or always feel free to drop by our 40,000+ sq ft of Indoor Showrooms in Bellevue, WA - Home of an Exciting Inventory of Luxury, Exotic, High Performance and Collectible Automobiles.
