1979 Porsche 930 Additional Info:
PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE AD
I've owned this 930 since 1998. When I purchased the car I disassembled it, leaned, oated and polished all the suspension and driveline components, eplaced all the bushings, earings, orsion bars, truts, hocks, tc. and reassembled it.
Since then I've driven the car less than 10K miles. It's been used as a once in awhile canyon carver. It's never seen rain and has only been washed with water twice.
This car has some wonderful features and it has some issues. All of which I'll cover in detail.
PLEASE NOTE: In the images everything red looks kind of"hot pink-ish". This is an issue with my (lack of) photographic skills. Everything red is Guards Red. Also, n some of the images the car has black calipers and Michelin Pilot Super-Sport tires. Recently I powder coated the calipers Guards Red, ut a spectacular set of wheels and wrapped them in Toyo Proxes R-888's.
THE (POTENTIALLY) BAD
- This car is a salvage title car. It was so when I purchased it. I don't know the reason it was a salvage title car. It was complete and running perfectly when I purchased it.
- This car IS NOT smog legal so I will have to acquire a "non-op" (unless you have a better idea) before transferring it to the new owner. All the smog devices have been removed however I have most of the components that were removed including most of the stock exhaust system.
- This car has no A/C or any of the components for the A/C installed. They were removed for the weight savings. However I have most of the components that were removed.
- The interior is quite nice but does lack a minor screw or knob here and there.
- The paint looks good at a glance but it has some issues. It looks to me as though whoever painted the car (pre 1998) didn't let the primer cure completely. This was a common issue with the materials available then. It appears that the primer has shrunk under the color coat and it has progressively gotten worse over the years. It's only evident on the hood and the doors. Also, here are a couple scrapes on the front bumper (where the car came loose in a trailer and rubbed on a cabinet) and one of the rocker panels has come loose.
- The 1st to 2nd syncro is getting to the point that one needs to have some finesse if hammering on the car hard.
- The car is in need of a proper 4 wheel alignment.
THE GOOD
- The undercarriage, ngine and engine bay are nearly as clean and tidy and the exterior.
- She's equipped with a K27 turbo, & B Stainless Steel headers and dash-mounted dial-a-boost and will make 1.3 bar of boost.
- Engine runs beautifully...and goes like stink.
- She has 1.5" drop spindles with double shear bump steer provisions.
- Newly powder coated (Guards Red) 930 Big Red calipers and fresh pads. Less than 50 miles on them.
- Absolutely spectacular new 3 piece wheels consisting of Speedline inners (powder coated satin black), Speedline centers (chromed) and Felgen Fuchs polished Stainless Steel outers. Less than 50 miles on them.
- New Toyo Proxes R-888 tires, 65-35-18 fronts, 35-30-18 rears. Less than 50 miles on them.
- She's equipped with nice, riginal Recaro "Classic-C" seats, hich are rare in their own right.
