1971 Porsche 911 1971 PORSCHE 911 T TARGA. SHOWS 74,687 MILES. Additional Info:

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent driver condition 911 T Targa, fitted with it's correct 2.2 liter engine. This car was recently purchased from Massachusetts where it had been believed to be stored indoors all of it's life, and appears to have been off the road since 2005 according to it's road tax sticker. The car originally left the factory in it's attractive and interesting color of Tangerine. It currently runs and drives decently (PLEASE SEE VIDEO), and can be put into service with some minor knick-knacks and a tune-up.The body on this car is very good with nice all-around panel fit. Bodywork is quite straight overall with only a few typical small spots of some light bubbling. The car's underside looks excellent, save for the normal repair needed up front around the battery box area. Paintwork is older and is now showing age with some chips and minor lifting but it appears to have had only this single repaint over it's original Tangerine. The body appears very honest. At some point, the car received some light updating with it's Targa bar blackened, later wheel set, seat set, and headlights- all easily reversible items back to the car's original look. The car's interior has been restored once in it's life probably when the car was painted. It's in nice condition all around with good carpets and a panel kit. The door panels look to be the original ones. There is a carpet cover pad glued down to the top of dashpad, so there's probably some cracking under there...The original seats have been upholstered in matching vinyl and look pretty good.Mechanically, the car's engine starts easily on the key with one pump of the pedal. There is little smoke on warm up, but quickly goes away after a minute of running. Oil pressure looks normal. The car revs well once warmed and drives decently down the road. It could probably use some fine tuning after it's time sitting. It's set of Weber carbs looks recently rebuilt. There is a small amount of clutch judder on takeoff in first gear only. Sometimes reverse is difficult to find which leads one to believe the shift linkage could use some adjustment or bushings replaced. The gearbox feels quite fine overall and the car is a decent driver on the road with a nice exhaust note.Overall, a desirable 911 T 2.2 Targa in good original colors with it's correct engine. This decent driver has a very good chassis and body and is the perfect candidate to enjoy now, and properly restore later when prices head North again. Now is a great time to secure one of these early and desirable small bumper 911's, and this car will be a wise investment going forward.
