Complete Body / Glass out, Mechanicals, Electricals, Interior, Undercarriage Restoration / rebuilt, finished in 2016..
I found this dream car for sale from a respected Porsche collector / sales with over 50 incredible Porsches and fell in lust..I've been a PCA member since 1987, owned over 20 Porsches since 1970.. and always wanted a 73' Carrera RS ( but who can afford one ) In Jan. 2017 I traded my perfect 67' 912 California orginal ++ Cash and bought this Carrera RS Tribute. Purchased with only 411 miles from completion, today it has 1,133 miles...hate to sell But losing my 6-car garage, moving.
The #'s matching engine is just awesome to look & listen to..It has the top racing state of the art distributor-less ignition sys w/ six coils one per cylinder, huge Weber carbs, Carrera type dual straigh, out exhaust, stainless heat exchangers, painted fan to match the body, w/updated chain tentionsers
The interior w/ leather Carrera type seats, thin carpets, Carrera door style panels and no rear seats and perfect headliner is very close to the original Carrera RS w/ Momo racing wheel, all excellent. The front & rear All steel fenders / flairs are also like the original Carrera RS and of course the Duck tail with all the correct Carrera script..Even the gorgeous 15"x 6"& 9" deep dish Fuchs wheels finished by the best, Harry Weidman, making this a gorgeous looking Tribute. if it weren't for the vin #'s this looks like the real thing except with more power..The negatives; I found a few tiny specks of dust in the paint on the hood, single-stage glass out paint that has never been wet sanded / buffed out to make a concours paint finish, one gauge has a slight fog, the front windshield lower passenger corner has a slight fog nearly invisibl, and I personally broke the windshield wiper motor / arm ( needs wiper motor & arm replaced )
This car has the Stance, the Look, the Driving, the Stopping & with this ignition system Starts instantly like a Porsche should.
