1970 Porsche 911 Additional Info:
RARE 1970 911E Sportomatic with lots of factory options
Sportos are making a comeback, and this one works great. Enjoy this car even in city traffic, up and down hills, stoplights simply by putting the car in second gear. A torque converter allows you to start from a standstill and run up to 40mph all in second! But when you are ready to run through the gears it works exactly like a manual transmission. The only difference is that you activate the clutch by taking hold of the gear shift instead of pushing a clutch pedal. It is the great grandfather of the tiptronic, F1, etc.
While the system is reliable, a lot of them where converted to manuals rather than repaired. This makes finding a numbers matching vehicle with this transmission innovation such a rare find. They are expected to only increase in value.
Factory options include AC (not working), Sunroof, E-model (mechanical fuel injection).
Long time owner of the car (since 2002). Engine and transmission rebuilt in 2005 and easily has less than 8k miles on it. Used a couple of times a month to keep the fuel fresh and seals wet. Drove recently 100 miles with no issues. Full suspension redone this year including original Koni Shocks and New Tires. Over 20k invested to keep the car stock and running great.
This is an easy restoration or keep as a daily driver. There is virtually 0 rust on the doors, pans, and trunk. On the interior I replaced the covers to Tan leather and replaced the carpets. The paint is a 6/7 out of 10. The car is confirmed numbers matching by Porsche.
Will make a vid for youtube of the car starting and running. kmj530 h_o_t_m_a_i_l
