1972 Porsche 914 Additional Info:
1972 Porsche 914
Great little daily driver condition car. I’ve owned it for about 6 years and drive it whenever I feel like without worry. Have taken several 500 mile fall road trips to visit my dad. Odometer is 49,200 something, but I'm driving it so that will change some. Speedometer works. The owner before me brought it back to life with the paint job and dual Webbers. I had to chase down a few electrical troubles and put in a new peddle cluster. Also have given it a couple new tires and a new starter and battery. Other than that I just drive it in the nice weather season which is short up in Northern NY. Find myself picking one of the motorcycles these days instead of the 914 so time to let it go. Soon as I do I’ll end up with a new girlfriend who would have loved riding shotgun rather than, you-know-where on the bike.
It’s short comings include some peeling paint on the top, see pics. A few cracks in the dash, sloppy shifter, which isn’t bad once you learn your way around. E-brake cable needs tightening. Leaks a bit of oil.
That said, I start it without problem all winter (when it warms up a bit from time to time) and it gives no trouble. I’m always surprised actually. I run non-ethanol high-test in it. Its great looking and a serious head turner. Very fun to drive as it feels like its glued to the road. And you can get parts easily from several places.
Please come and look it over, drive it if you like. E-mail me with any questions but know that while I'll tell you anything I know, I’m not that critical of an owner as long as the vehicle starts and runs and is fun to drive… which this one surely is. Also for sale locally.
