1988 Porsche 928 S4 Additional Info:
This1988 Porsche 928 S4 was recently acquired by the seller and now shows 88,350 miles. The car is described stock mechanically, and the only known cosmetic modification is redone front seats with Pasha inserts. Power comes from a 5.0-liter V8 paired to a 4-speed automatic transaxle, and a new timing belt was installed in May 2017. Mostly complete maintenance records from new accompany the sale, along with the original window sticker, purchase order, factory manuals, and OEM accessories. This 928 is now being offered with a Certificate of Authenticity, a clear Carfax history report, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
The seller states that early in this 928s life, the roof, bumpers, and right-front fender were repainted due to a factory defect while the car was still under warranty. A receipt for the completed work is included in the service file, and no other paintwork has been performed since to the seller’s knowledge.
This car retains correct 16″ seven-slot alloy wheels. They are shod in 225/50 front and 245/45 rear Toyo Proxes T1R tires. Each corner is highlighted in the comprehensive photo gallery below.
The recently redone front seats feature distinctive Pasha inserts, while the OEM rear seats have been kept as-is. Per the included window sticker, this particular car is equipped with a full power-operated driver’s seat including factory-optional lumbar support. Just prior to this auction, a new ignition tumbler was installed, and a new red key is included as shown in the photo gallery.
The raised-hub steering wheel is also a factory option, and the remainder of the interior is claimed to be stock aside from an R134A A/C conversion. The seller states that the glass is original to the vehicle, including the windshield. Features and electrics are said to work, including the power sunroof/windows, though the original radio reportedly crackles intermittently.
Per the seller, the fuel gauge jumps around during operation, though all other instrumentation works properly. 88,350 miles are stated as correct based on mostly complete service records and the Carfax.
According to Porsche, the 32-valve 5.0-liter V8 engine produced 316 horsepower when new. In May 2017, the timing belt was replaced and a fluid/filter service was completed. The included maintenance records reportedly cover most major mechanical services back to new.Additional documentation consists of the original window sticker, purchase documents, option sticker, and the OEM leather pouch with all factory books/manuals as displayed in the photo gallery. A Porsche Certificate of Authenticity accompanies the sale as shown above. The accident-free Carfax dates back to May 1998 when the odometer showed 42k miles. The car appears to have spent 17+ years in Florida, and 28 service history records are also displayed.
