A very original and dry 1964 Porsche 356 in factory color of signal red with black leatherette interior and numbers matching motor. I purchased this car from a man who claimed his sister bought the car in 1966. She used it as a daily driver for many years in southern California before putting the car in long term storage. The man I bought the car from purchased it from his sister and performed what I would call a "sympathetic restoration" The undercarriage is original and solid. The trunk and engine compartment still have the factory sound deadening material. All of the chrome and glass is original. There is some wear or pitting on some of the chrome on the turn signals. The bumpers are in great shape. original chrome steel ventilated wheels are in great shape and all date matching 2/64. The car has the original spare which is not pictured (sorry) but the original leather hold down strap is in place. The original hood crest is still on the car. The owner told me that when the car was repainted he had the engine rebuilt and had the speedo/odometer set to zero "0". It is now at 398 miles. He also pitched the original zenith carbs and sourced a set of Solex carbs from an SC. The carbs were rebuilt but are still a bit worn. The car fires right up but takes some coaxing to get it warm. Once warm the engine runs great with good power and no smoke at all. I would either source a good set of original zeniths are have these solex carbs reshafted and properly rebuilt by 356 Carburetor rescue. The transmission shifts perfectly. It is the best early Porsche transmission I have ever felt. All gears are precise and easy. You can up shift or down shift at any RPM or speed with ease. Very Very nice transmission. The interior is in very nice condition. The dash is in the original factory Porsche paint. The headliner is Perfect with no staining. The seats and carpet are in great shape. All the glass is original. The original factory Radio is not in the car but it is included in the sale. (I don't know if it works) The Previous owner installed a modern vintage looking radio in the car which does work. All and all this is great verydry original 356C thatyou can enjoy driving and showing. It is not a concours carby any stretch but avery solid driver that looks great.I do not have any service receipts or paperwork from any work that was done to the car IE: repaint, and engine rebuild.
I have described the condition to the best of my knowledge however it is the responsibility of the bidder or prospective buyer to perform your own inspection or hire a third party to do an inspection of the car for you.Parties are welcome to schedule inspections or inspect the car in person and that is encouraged. The car is being sold "As Is" with no warranty what so ever. If you win the auction the price you bid is the price you pay. There are most likely things that I have missed in my description and I am not a professional. Please view the car in person and realize that determining the value and condition of this car is the buyers responsibility.
Please view all of the pictures. I have set up a Photo bucket with about 100 detailed photos.
