1988 Porsche 911 Additional Info:
This is a very ...very...VERY rare and gorgeous machine. A true Porsche factory option 505Slantnose 911 Turbo. Only 625 of these were ever produced by the Porsche factory:
200 in 1987278 in 1988147 in 1989
But then the air gets even thinner as this already rare car became a Ruf FactorySlantnose. While I have no idea how many of those are in existence it can't be more than a handful. And this is the perfect and desired color combo with WHITE over BLACK ... and it is both MANUAL & COUPE. I'm not sure it gets any better than that! Whoever checked the boxes checked all the correct ones.
If you know anything about Porsche you know just how special this car is. And so did Griot's Garage as they featured it (during my ownership) on both the front and back cover of Handbook No. 388 as you can see in the attached pictures and on their website. This car is stunning ...a show-stopper. No matter where this car goes every person who sees it says it's the best looking Porsche they have ever seen. And it is.
So why am I selling it ... youmight ask? Fair question. I'd be asking the same thing. It's simple. My collection has grown to the size that I need to sell a car to buy a car and I have my eye on another very special car. My passion is bothair-cooled Porsches and the racetrack and I have the opportunity to buy an equally special and rare car that has been purpose-built for the track. And the fact is ... I really want this car. So that means that the jewel of my collection ... this 930 beauty has to go to the auction block.
I want this other car so badly that I'm going to do something a little silly andlet the market speak for itself asI need the space and the funds ... and I only have the other car on hold for the next 20 days.I'm going to start this no-reserve auction at just $89,000. Yes, just $89,000 for a 1 of 625 factoryslantnose 930 that has been treated to morespecial features by Ruf. That means any bid of $89,000 or higher will get to put this incredible, beautiful, work of art in their garage.I have seen a similar Ruf 930 list for $345,000 (though I don't know what it sold for) and just recently saw a non-Ruf 930 slant listedwith more miles than this car (and appears sold) inPCA's Panorama magazine for $250,000. While no cars nearly 30 years old are flawless, this car is about as close as you can get. It's in spectacular shape both in and out. I bought the car in August 2013 and haveonly put a few hundred miles on it during my ownership. (But man have they been incredible miles!) When I bought the car it had just had the top-end rebuilt so the engine is completely fresh just a few hundred miles ago.
I encourage and will assist in helping coordinate a pre-purchase inspection at any shop of your choosing in my local area, as I wan't you to be completely at peace with thispurchaseand see just how great this car really is. I'd be happy to provide you the names of all the top Porsche shops in my area for you to choose from.
The car does have one small, unfortunate story, but the potential buyer will be completely put at ease after the PPI ... as was I when I bought the car. Back in 2006 this car had a small, front-end accident which ended up causing only $7,500 in total damage. It was hit in the front right at an intersection and needed a new hood, front right fender, and right front wheel. (I spoke with the owner who had the damaged fixed.) Back in 2006 these cars were only worth a fraction of what they are worth today ... about 1/10 to be exact. And because this car was so rare, the insurance company didn't know what to do since they couldn't source the parts for the car so they decided to take the easy route and pay it out as a total loss (which it in no way was) and then let the owner take the money and go fix it himself. Which is exactly what he did. He told me it only cost him $7,500 to fix so he was incredibly happy with this deal. So, for just $7,500 of easily repairable damage (which can be fully verified by any PPI) this $250,000 amazing work of art has a WA Rebuilt title. But the good news for you is this means it can be bought at a substantial savings to its actual value. I went through thisexactprocess when I bought the car in 2013 and felttotally comfortable with what I discovered. And so will you. There was (and is) no framedamage. The car is perfectly straight. All that was replaced was just a couple exterior body panels that were done at the highest quality. As a matter of fact, if I didn't tell you about this damage I'm not sure it would even be discovered in the PPI. The repairs are that good.
Again, if you know Porsche, you know how expensive the 930 has become. Now add on top of that that fact that this is an incredibly rare (1 of 625) FACTORY SLANTNOSE and the value goes up considerably. And then add on top of that the fact that Ruf got ahold of this beauty and you have a very very rare and valuable car with NO RESERVE and a starting bid that islikely half of its actual value. All of this adds up to a true, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for some lucky buyer. And all because the current owner (me) is obsessed with another rare and special track car that he wants to add to his stable.
Good luck!
