1976 Porsche 914 2.0 parting with an old friend. It is with great sadness that we are offering this 1976 914 2.0 from the estate of Dick Knerr, a passionate member of the 914 community who recently passed away. Dick loved this car and took great care of it, and although is certainly not a concours car, would make its new owner a great driver and a car to be proud to own. A little history: We purchased this original Atlanta car from its original owner back in the late 80s after it got into a little altercation that bent the right door. Being such a pristine car at the time, Dr 914 took it under his wing, replaced the door, and fixed it up for his then number one employee Ann, as her demo, installing a Blaupunkt cassette and power booster with electric antenna as well as fuchs alloy wheels and driving lights. Ann drove the car regularly and our shop maintained it until one day when an older gentleman (Dick) walked into the shop and just had to have it. Dick owned the car from the beginning of the 90s maintaining it and enjoying it as his daily driver here in Atlanta for the next 25 years, until now at an older age, had to move in with his son in Maryland, and eventually passed away. Jay kept the car in the garage driving it occasionally but getting older himself along with the memory of his Dad made it too hard to keep the car around, so he asked if we could help him place it in a good home. Since the car had been sitting awhile and also out of our care for several years, we had to repair a few things to shed years of use, and return the car to a dependable driver quality 914. As you can see by the shown repair ticket, we spent about seven thousand on the car (it is very easy to spend $7,000 on any 914 these days and not even make a dent in the other restoration work it may need) and it is now ready to purchase, a dependable, fly in, drive home, and enjoy years of fun. You will not be disappointed. Here is a brief synopsis of the current condition of the car: As we all know the 1976 was the last year for the 914, with the lowest four cylinder production numbers and according to Dr 914 THE most valuable. This car, an original Atlanta car that has never seen the harsh roads of the northern winters, and carefully cared for has still had a few nicks and bumps along the way. As mentioned before, we installed another door on the car back in the late 80s, and the car was repainted in the late 90s, the paint being certainly acceptable and not needing to be repainted. The car has not been damaged anywhere else, and has never been a rust car, except for, at one time, water sitting in the car, and damaging the cross member as you can see in the pictures. The car drives great has perfect compression, and does not need any mechanical work what so ever, as we went over it carefully, and hopefully with our long experience have missed nothing. This car is to be thoroughly enjoyed by its next owner, and, as we stated, the perfect driver, very very nice, but not too nice. There is a small reserve on the car. If you have any questions what so ever about this car, please call dr914 personally at 404 308 5652 any time or e mail at dr914@autoatlanta.com We have two other cars coming soon, an ancona blue 76 914 and a black limited edition.
