1965 Porsche 356 Additional Info:
Cars Dawydiak of San Francisco is offering for sale this pristine 1965 356C which is finally gracing the open collector car market, coming straight from the collection of the company president. An eye-catching matching numbers C, wearing a high-end respray of its original Irish Green paint. (Porsche 6406, Sherwin Williams 6909 codes) This meticulously restored example seeks to blend factory delivery originality with period-correct Carrera-inspired light modifications, as were popular in the late sixties with the small band of what well refer to as enthusiasts rather than outlaws. The car comes complete per factory spec and Porsche COA* and presents as follows: Year: 1965Model Type: 356C CoupeEngine Number: 715419Engine Type: 616/15Transmission Number: 82342Transmission Type: 741/2CColour: Irish GreenInterior: Fawn LeatheretteOptional Equipment: External Mirror, Left SideImporter: Porsche of America As mentioned, the car currently differs from its delivery state with the addition of period correct extended lugnuts and meticulously restored Carrera seats with houndstooth inserts. Passenger side dash area wears period rally entrant plaques. On the road this 356 performs very well indeed, with a sure-footed and solid feel consistent with the care taken in its restoration. Originally delivered in Texas, the car was on the road as a regular driver until 1972. Records indicate it was stored until 1978 when it again entered service as a daily driver. The original engine was rebuilt and fully overhauled in 1991 and it wasnt until 2005, under the stewardship of the third owner, that the extensive restoration began. A large binder of receipts and invoices detailing the restoration and ongoing maintenance accompany the car, as does the spare, jack, tool roll and drivers manual. Hubcaps are also included.Upon receipt of the car, the current owner paid particular attention to the underside, correcting the floor pans which had been repaired previously and bringing all other cosmetic aspects to show condition. This 356 stands as an excellent driver quality car, with a very reassuring road presence. Structurally and mechanically solid and very nicely appointed aesthetically, the only thing this 356C is lacking is a new adventure.
