This is an excellent example of an early SC Targa. It is a desirable European delivered car finish in Grand Prix White with Black interior. Of its time in the states, the car has spent most of its time here in the southeast. There are several documents and maintenance records with the car including a complete engine rebuild at 100k miles. The car drives and handles extremely well. This car was cared for and enjoyed by its previous owners.
Commonly referred to as big port head 3.0, the early 911 SCs of 78 and 79 came equipped with the larger cylinder heads. The engine is very strong and sealed up quite well. The fuel injection works as it should and there are no issues starting the car. The engine has also been upgraded with SSI Stainless Steel heat exchangers. The clutch was replaced around the same time that the engine was rebuilt. Shifting is very very smooth in this car both up and down. The 915 transmissions are usually weak points in these cars however this transmission feels exceptionally fresh.
The car is a numbers matching 908 Grand Prix White car. The paint is in overall beautiful condition. There are a few nicks and chips on the car but no signs of accident repairs. The rear decklid paint has some cracking from age but this is the only area on the car. Please see the photos. There are no areas of rust on the car externally or underneath. The floorpan is very straight and not dented or beaten up. The car has all of its trim pieces and the rubber has not been destroyed from the sun. The car retains its original Fuch Wheels. They are very straight with no curb rash issues, but do have slight paint fading. All of the lights work and are in great condition with the exception of the drivers side rear tail light lens that has a small crack. Overall, it is a well presented drivers car.
The interior is black and well preserved. The seats look and feel new, they are super soft. Once again, there is no sun damage in the car at all. The dash is free of cracks and warping. Gauges, lights, and switches all work as they should. The car has all of its carpet that is still clean and soft. Targa seals have been replaced and seem to seal up well. There are a few minor leaks around the windows which is typical for a Targa but nothing too bad. No tears in the top and the hinges and levers work fine. There is a nice a tight seal on the at the windshield and the roll bar. The car comes with its original space saver spare tire, jack, and road flares.
This is a great opportunity to get a desirable mid-year 911. Out of the SCs, Euro Spec 78/79 cars are the best to have. They are a bit more pure to Porsches roots. This car has been well maintained and the drive shows that. It is not a perfect show car but rather a great car to drive and enjoy as it should be! Please see the extra photos below:
