This is a great opportunity to buy a smart looking driver-quality 1962 Porsche 356 B coupe. Originally delivered in light ivory, this coupe has been resprayed in a striking ivory pearl that really suits its curves just right. As for the interior, it is trimmed in a tasteful black vinyl with the front seats possibly being leather. Power has been upgraded as well. The S90 based engine (800183)that now occupies the engine bay is a significant upgrade over the 60 horsepower normal engine that was originally fitted by the factory some 54 years ago. Super 90 engines are legendary among Porsche 356 enthusiasts being the first pushrod engine to wear dual choke Solex carbs and produce a staggering 90 horsepower. If you wanted to have a more powerful Porsche in the early 1960s you had to have a Carrera or an outright race car.
Built for driving and enjoying club events, this coupe was placed on a rotisserie to recoat the underside and patch the outer longitudinals. The black interior and supplefront seats certainly make this coupe beg to be driven.
This is a solid carthat has sat formore than a year so will need the brakes sorted and the carbs cleaned out. The carbs wereprofessionally rebuilt in 2009 by "Carburetor Rescue" so should just need a good cleaning. Ignition is provided by a "123 electronic ignition" and the oil is filtered by a Precision Matters full flow oil module. Currently the engine idles well and revs well but will need the carbs attended to in orderfor it to rev without flat spots. The winning biddershould plan on trailering the car at pick up.
Please take a good look at the pictures. They reflect the cosmetic condition and show paint/filler separation issues on the door bottoms and a few other items of note. Oil on the bottom of the engine indicates an oil leak but determining thelocation of the specific leak point was not attempted. One or both of the headlight lenses should be changed as well. This delightful coupe is the second of two cars being sold on ebay on behalf of an estate. Like the first car, it has a modest reserve and will be sold to the highest bidder. Bidders are encouraged to inspect the car prior to bidding. This Porsche classic is being sold as is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied. All descriptions, including the photos are intended to show the general condition of the car.
Successful bidder should make a deposit of $1000 via PayPal within 48 hours of auction close. The balance is required to be made via bank wire transfer to the estate.
PLEASE ask any questions prior to bidding.
