Up for sale is my 1982 Porsche 930 which is in very good condition. I am the fourth owner and have owned it for the past 10 years. The car currently has around 116,700 miles on it. The speedometer reads 16,764 as the gauges were replaced in white by previous owner at around 100,000 miles. To my knowledge it has never been tracked. I have used it as a summer, weekend car and have always kept it covered in my climate controlled garage. Over $50,000 has been spent improving the performance of this vehicle and it shows and drives like a million bucks!
Some of the highlights are:
-Only 3,000 miles on a completely rebuilt engine completed in 2012
-3.4L pistons & sleeves
-Quick spooling K27 sport turbo with Tial wastegate (.8 bar spring)
-Ruf BTR clutch
-Lightweight flywheel
-SC cams
-B&B headers, heat exchangers & dual exhaust
-White faced gauges
-Clock replaced with mechanical boost gauge
-Digital Air/Fuel ratio gauge
-Aftermarket intercooler
-3 piece turbo twist wheels
-New front oil cooler
-Rebuilt warmup regulator and fuel distributor
-New battery in spring of 2016
-Alpine stereo with 2 amplifiers, subwoofer and speakers
-Sharp red and black leather throughout interior
-Previous owner replaced carpet - very clean!
-Black paint looks great! Has a few rock chips here and there as you'd expect on a 34 year old car
-The engine is tuned very conservatively so it is nearly impossible to hurt anything by driving hard but there is still a ton of untapped power available if you want to tap into it
This is a euro version with the side turn signals and smaller, better looking bumpers. The car has only been driven in nice weather, never in snow or rain (previous owners all lived in NM). Only things it could use are new tires and to recharge the AC. It blows cold but I didn't have it re-charged after the engine rebuild.
There are not too many 930's out there where everything is repaired/replaced and it is ready to drive and have fun. This car is extremely fast!! 0-60 in roughly 4 seconds...when you floor it in 2nd gear and the boost kicks in you better be going in a straight line because the acceleration is absolutely violent! You will be pinned against the back of your seat with the biggest smile you've ever had on your face...so much fun! And such an incredibly cool looking car. It looks like it is going 100 mph just sitting there, like it is ready to pounce.
If you are someone who grew up loving the shape of the early 911 Turbos with their wide hips and aggressive stance, extremely wide rear tires and large whale tail then you you owe it to yourself to check this car out. It is a blast to drive, a beauty to look at in the garage and is one of the few vehicles that has been increasing in value over the years. You can probably convince your wife to look at it as an investment. You can always sell it for a profit down the road while collecting memory & smile dividends along the way.
The only thing it needs is new tires and new front hood struts which wear out every few years. They are very inexpensive and easy to replace. The passenger side window is also slow to roll up/down. Just needs to be disassembled and the track cleaned up.
