1977 Porsche 924 Additional Info:
Gas efficiency and style in one package!
Up for sale is a great barn find 1977 1/2 Porsche 924. A lot of money has gone into this Classic to ensure an important stage of history is remembered. Unlike many of these transitional Porsche cars, this car was stored well and driven rarely by it's long term owner. Since being found 4-5 years ago, the fuel system, stereo, exhaust, windshield, window tracks, transaxle, hydraulic hatch supports, brakes and engine have been gone through. New tires with matching spare below the back carpet. Sale includes the original manuals, a oem spoiler froma latter year, nice leather sun roof bag and parts taken off or replaced while restoring to road worthy safety. Amazingly the car fired up and continues to run like a top since its refreshening. The 4speed manual transmission is noisy when fully let out but functions perfectly on the road. While the car purrs like a kitten, it still is indeed a barn find and has some paint imperfections but is a solid 10 footer. In the joy of cruising back roads with the sun roof off, we did add the Porsche decal to the new windshield, German circuit decals on the sides and a small fender hash. I've had a garage address the transmission noise but after everything it was determined to be a original Audi trait with this car but throughout everything the clutch is actually quite easy and forgiving to operate so would make a great classic/manual example for the collection.
This car was originally purchased by a leading surgeon from UW Madison (huge strides in ACL and knee replacements) and later spent most of it's life in an older ladies garage in Philips WI. The car was originally red but changed to silver as the elderly woman didn't want it affecting her insurance rates. Under 60k original miles and incredibly clean under body!
Sadly it is time for this gem to move on as I have enjoyed every minute of every year reviving this little beauty. At my size and age, getting in and out of this little car is very difficult. I know I have nearly $6,000 invested without the purchase of the vehicle and will likely take a loss but I am passionate about this rare mid year car and want it to go to a home that will appreciate it.
Hagerty Valuation Tool places a 1977 Porsche 924 in good condition at $6,500. Granted this is a more desirable 1977.5 example, I believe I am opening the bidding at an incredibly low price and will take the highest bid at the end of the auction. Car fires up every time and is garage stored, with that said, this car is sold without a warranty and as is, where is. The high bidder at the end of this auction is responsible for a $500 deposit within 24 hrs and full payment within 7 days when picking up the vehicle.
Thank you!
