1966 Pontiac LeMans LeMans Additional Info:
This is a 1966 LeMans Convertible GTO CLONE car. The car has been restored and given all emblems and body modifications that a real GTO would have but is actually a LeMans. The body is in excellent condition and the paint shines like crazy. All the chrome has either been replaced, replated or is in excellent condition. The glass is in good condition (passenger rear window has a few scratches)and the convertible top has just been replaced. Most all the weatherstrips have been replaced and the door jambs are painted nicely. The interior has new upholstery, rugs and everything to upgrade the interior to GTO standards. The car has bucket seats and a factory console with aftermarket gauges and a reproduction factory wood steering wheel. There is an aftermarket am/fm radio and a factory tach that does not work. Car also has power steering. The engine is a factory 326 with an Edelbrock manifold and carburetor. The engine runs smooth and has no unwanted noises. There is a new HD radiator, heater hoses and radiator hoses along with a rebuilt wiper motor and new horns. The transmission has been upgraded to a turbo 350 from the factory powerglide and the driveshaft has been balanced with new universal joints added. The rear is an open 10 bolt, not sure the ratio but it is a cruiser. The gas tank and sending unit has been replaced and the exhaust system is in excellent condition. The brake system has been upgraded with a power unit, dual braking system, front disc brakes, new rear wheel cylinders and new brake pads and shoes. The rally wheels were purchased when the GTO conversion was done and it has the correct bias ply redline tires. The car is in beautiful condition and gets compliments wherever you go, no it is not a real GTO, but it is not $60,000 either. If you are looking for a beautiful, fun car to enjoy and are not hung up on the clone aspect, this is your car. This car rides great for a 1966 vehicle, even with the bias tires, a set of radials and it would be even better. I cruise at 65-70 mph with no shakes or vibration. Now what I know is wrong with the car, the directionals do not cancel after a turn, the tach was put in but does not work, there are a few oil drips and the trunk floor has an amateur repair. The floor is solid but was not repaired to look original. There is also one small spot in the drivers floor that was repaired in a similar fashion. Neither of these repair affects the structure of the car and the frame is rock solid. So if you want a lot of fun for not much money, contact me and take a look at this beautiful car ! I will require a $500.00 deposit on paypal within 48 hours of the end of the auction and the remainder in cash or other funds agreed upon after the sale within 7 days. Do not bid unless you are a serious buyer !!I have described this vehicle to the best of my ability, I know there is well over $40,000 invested in this car and all the new owner has to do is put gas in it and enjoy driving a head turning car. I have a video on youtube under 1966 Lemans Red convertible GTO clone, check it out and get back to me. New York did not have titles until 1973 so car will be sold with a registration and bill of sale.
