Hello and thanks for clicking on my rare and impossible to find Firebird 400 HO convertible!
This super rare Poncho is in good overall condition and is very solid. It's also very driveable as-is and would make an ideal rolling restoration candidate. Much work has already been done on the car with a recent complete suspension rebuild, including front & rear springs, shackles, shocks, etc. The front end was also rebuilt with new sway bar, spindles, bearings, ball joints, etc. It also has a new rear axle and seals, brake lines and transmission service. The Pontiac Rallye wheels were restored and shod with new tires. It starts, runs, drives and stops well.
The Firebird 400 HO was a low production variant of the Firebird 400. It added a few mods to the cam and exhaust that added hosepower and torque to the standard 400. According to the Firebird 400 HO website (firebird 400ho.com), actual production of 4 speed convertibles is estimated to be 250 or less. Only three others are known to exist today.
This car is documented with the body tag, VIN, PHS report and the original broadcast sheet which was found under the rear seat.
I have been told that the engine currently in the car is not numbers matching. I am not a numbers guy and don't know how to decode engine numbers in Pontiac products so I have included a picture of the engine number (304835 WK) so that you can decide for yourself.
The only power accessory on this Firebird is the top and it works as it should. Therewere no power draining accessories oredered on the car fom the factory so she's all muscle. She does have the optional and desireable hood tach and bucket seats with console shifted 4 speed transmission.
The front bumper and hood had some minor damage and were recently replaced with new parts. The hood fit is a little off and needs to be adjusted but it closes and locks properly. The few parts that are absent in the pictures are with the car, in the trunk. It appears to be 100% complete, even still having the counter weights that were factory installed in the trunk.
The car has been owned by a single individual for the last 25 years. It has been garaged and was in line for a full restoration but the owner ran out of steam for the project and consigned the car to me for sale. If this car were properly resored, it would be very valuable indeed.
I have included many pictures of theFirebird. Please refer to them for condition details. The floors appear to be 100% solid and the trunk has only a few small holes. The inner rockers and other sheet metal all looks very good.
As stated earlier, this Firebird runs well and can be driven just as it is. Fly in and drive home!
Please contact me with any questions, photo requests, or to schedule a showing of the car.
The owner of the car has decided it's time to cut this rare car loose and let someone else take her to the next level. We are selling for NO RESERVE, so bid to win because she will sell to the highest bidder!
Thanks Again for looking and Good Luck!
