Vehicle Details
The 1966 Pontiac Bonneville two-door convertible is the top -tie, full -size, 124"wb, B-body Flagship of the 1966 GM Pontiac Motor Divisions luxury muscle car lineup. VIN# 262676P299404 . Pontiac Michigan Assembly plant built. True 67- Code. High performance two-door convertible. Late production sequence # 299404 .
Specially ordered in Rare and unique-eye popping! Monochromatic Dark Marina turquoise poly/metallic exterior trim paired with Dark Marina turquoise poly/metallic leather+vinyl interior, topped off with a White power convertible top with glass back window. Fantastic!. The Bonneville is powered by its Original numbers matching (special order) 333/hp High performance 389 V8 California 4bbl. Mounted to the original Turbo Hydra-matic 400 - 3-speed transmission. Both have been completely and professionally rebuilt. This - ICONIC - True survivor -quality 1966 Pontiac Bonneville two-door convertible with less than 95,000 actual miles was warehoused in the late seventies with a few minor dent+ dings and a bad transmissio, It remained in the same spot for the more than 35 + years . The transmission was non-op and there's no evidence that this vehicle has been registered or plated since 1979, and it remains that way to this day. The Bonneville changed hand, was repainted the correct color and underwent a partial mechanical restoration to include the rebuild high performance 333/hp 389 V8, nos original fuel tank, new brakes from the master cylinder back and more. When I got the Bonneville it still had its dry rot 1970s bias ply tires on it from when it was parked. I had the turbo hydra-matic 400 3-speed transmission 100% rebuilt to GM specs using all American parts, which in tern made the Bonneville drivable again for the first time in close to 40 years! The mechanical restoration continued to include rebuilt power steering system and power steering gear, new alternator and NOS regulator, record original radiator and heater core, The Bonneville is fast, smooth and powerful and runs and drives and stops as it should . Effort was made during the mechanical restoration and repaint to preserve the Bonneville over completely restoring it. The undercarriage and body remain 96% Rust- Free, the floors, frame, trunk, rockers, quarter, and everything in between are Rock solid .(see pics) the original carpeting and sill plates are one of the few things missing but offers a glimpse of the pristine rust- free condition of the original floors and body, with nothing to hide! Unlike a lot of other big convertibles on the market .
The interior is remarkably well preserved the seats, door and interior panels are all original and rip free with the exception of one small tear on the lower edge of the front bench seat. (easily repaired) The Bonneville overall shows minimum wear, fairly consistent with its age. The Bonneville looks great! and is very presentabl, like most unrestored 1960s cars it does carry an honest collection of dents+dings and various + annoying surface imperfections, scattered across various panels that are present in both paint and sheet metal, nothing that compromises the integrity of the car and all easily addressed during light restoration or leave as is. When you inspect inside the doors, quarter panels, trunk and body you will see dry original rust free sheet metal with its original Factory coating. The numerous pictures should speak a thousand words. The dashboard and translucent turquoise lucite steering wheel are something special! all original unrestored like new condition. (See pics)
With all it has going for it, this investment grade 1966 two door Bonneville ragtop with its unique history, conditio, rarity, and amazing color palette - in a world where a 10 year old Toyota Camry is worth 25k this Bonneville is sure to be a great investment.
