For sale, a one of one, specially designed 1957Pontiac Star chief hardtop, in the fifties GM hired Janet Krebs a femaledesigner to create a unique interior for this car. It was shown as a prototypefor future cars as well as a showcase for what a factory custom design couldbe.
The car was exhibited throughout the country at National car shows. NY autoshow among others.
Here is an opportunitytobid on this veryrare and interesting1957 Pontiac. To my knowledge GM only completed two vehiclesdesigned byJan Krebs. One was aStar chief pink convertible. The other was this car.ABlack Star chiefhardtop. The resting place of the pink convertibleis unknown but this is theblackhardtop!
The car was for sale in Massachusetts. I bought the car. It has not been on theroad since 1970. I placed it dry storage since. Unfortunately the originalmotorisfrozen, and I never drove it. For its age the car is in goodcondition. The floors are solid as is thetrunk area. There is some ruston the rockers and door skins. As mentioned the motor a 347ci four barrelcarburetor is frozen.
The car was originally black with a black spear. When I bought the car theblack speak was painted green. I never changed it back to original, you can seethe original black paint under the green spear. What makes this car so uniqueis the custom designed interior. Thecustom interior is all there; theblack and patent leather and creative stitching. Very cool door panel design.On there is some wear in the fabric but it is all here and can be nicelyrestored. On the floor the original wool carpet is in pieces and has mostlybeen removed. It was put in garbage bags and come with the car. The leatherlinedglovebox is in good condition. If accessory items where in theglove box when the car was built they were not there at the time of purchase.Thecustom design interior isfantastic, a woman's touch can neverbebeat!

The car is loaded with power Windows, power steering, power seats, and powerantenna, wonder bar radio. The chrome is invery good shape and will beeasy to have re-chromed as is the stainless trim. Thetrunksoriginal custom emblem is also a one of a kind trim piece. Which comes with thecar.
This car is a piece of Pontiac history. Show casing women’s tastefuldesign and positive influence in the car industry. The last Pontiac was made in2009. This car deserves to be restored and put in a high end collection ordisplayed in a museum.
