1975 Pontiac Firebird 455 Additional Info:

Vehicle Details

This Firebird, is as rust free as you can possibly find. The 1970-1981 Firebirds & Camaros were extremely prone to rusting. So many of the Gen 2 F-bodies, have been ruste, ,, repaired from a rusted mess, and then "put up for sale." This engine is a YG code serial # 156346, 455 Pontiac engine. That's a 1971 factory 280 horse, 455-2v, repeat, this engine, is a 1971 455, with # 64 1970 GTO 455 H.O. heads... I always assumed this 455 originally came from a 1971 Catalina, with a 455-2v ... This 1975 FB has a single colored silver exterior, evenly faded paint, 1975 Firebird, licensed, insured, registration current,,, High Compression 455, big valve heads, overdrive transmission,, 12 bolt differential,, stock 1971 455 T/A style dual exhaust ... I drive this car, almost every day, & sometimes, twice a day, ... Same family owned since 1977, correct original factory colors of sliver, blk vinyl interior, 1975 Firebird, factory A/C, tilt, PS, PB, rally dash, tint glass, 15" rally wheels, originally a 350-4v, 350-auto, 10 bolt, but now it has ... a 1971 455, from a Catalina, 280 horse, 2, ,, & now with high compression 1970 #64 GTO D-port, 455 heads ... with stock "low performance" cast iron exhaust manifolds,, 1972 4v carb (#7042272 from a 1972 GTO 400/455), 1971 455 cast iron intake manifold casting # 481733 with date code of "A1",, 700R4 transmission,, 12 bolt axle/code = C OS 0211G2 = 3.07 open, from a 1970 Firebird... All stock original factory delivered 15x7 rally wheels, still on car, but no trim rings... Has the 1975 high energy ignition distributor. As rust free of a 1975 Pontiac as you can find. Original carpets & weather stripping, original fabric trunk mat, UN-cracked original dash top,,, rally dash with 100 MPH speedo, and tach,,, all tires are 3 years old, 225-70-15, Hankook, T rated,,, guages that don't work = temp, speedo, clock, odometer,,, guages that do work = fuel, tach, oil pressure, volts,,, it has the remaining parts of a propane conversion, underhood, and in trunk, and an old alarm, in the trunk. It has a very very faint "asymetrical" rotational noise coming from somewhere in the rear, at low speeds, & it's speed dependant, ( my mechanic cannot hear it, but I can ),,, this car handles & corners surprisingly well, brakes are totally adequate.. 1971 Factory style dual exhaust,,, This car has a VERY FIRM ride, & has all factory syle HD springs, front & rear, newer HD type shocks, rear shocks are Monroe overload shocks, fronts are, blue, Monroe-Matics,, car has biggest factory style, ( sized ), anti-sway bars,,, differential just serviced, with new synthetic gear oil,,, rear sway bar = just replaced all rubber bushings / grommets,, rebuilt starter,, rebuilt carb,, best tune up parts; plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor,, inline fuel filter was added,,, oil pan is a milodon 6 qt, road race, gold colored pan,,, tranny just serviced, tranny pan was extremely clean, with no debris, in it,,, has a large plate style trans cooler, and very large, radiator, A/C compressor is missing the belt, otherwise all underhood A/C parts, are in place ... Comes with, many, or maybe most of the interior trim parts, that are currently "off" of the car; passenger door panel, dash pieces, console pieces, HVAC pieces, Headliner has been completely removed,,, (( I have not taken an inventory, of the loose parts, from the car, so I'm not 100% sure on this, but I do have a bunch, of loose parts, in my garage, that goes to the car. )) ... Tranny takes 3 miles, in low gear, to warm up, before it will up-shift. I think it needs a new valve body, and a new Quadrajet specific TV cable set up, (properly installed), ( these parts are suggested to be obtained from bowtieoverdrives.com ) ... Car was in Long Beach CA, 3 miles from ocean, 1977-2021, same family owned since 1977. Car starts extremely easy if driven, the day before, two pumps of the accelerator pedal, then just the slightest turn of the key, & it fires up, strongly, and instantly ... Always idles perfectly... 455 was rebuilt by Bonded Motors, in Los Angeles, in Feb of 1986, & it doesnt smoke, it doesn't burn oil, it does leak a very small amt, on the driveway, when it sit, ,, stock cam, as far as I can tell... Car needs alot of TLC, or drive it, with all it's faults. Car sold AS IS, WHERE IS, no written, or implied, guarantees, whatsoever ... Descriptions are to the best of my knowledge... Only bidders with 10 or more feedbacks, & 97% positive, will be allowed to bid,,, Pick up car, with-in 30 days, after, your payment, in $, has cleared the bank. Title is clean. Odometer I'm sure, "rolled" once... So assume it's 144,948 actual, but I have no proof... This car does NOT leak; gasoline, coolant, PS fluid, tranny fluid, diff fluid. Brakes are ( power ) front disc, rear drum.. All 4 tires hold air, extremely well.. They are all 225-70-15 on 15x7 ( steel ) rally, date coded wheels, original to the car. The spare is a smaller 205-65-15 tire ... On a 15x7 rally... I've driven the car round trip between Long Beach, and the Palm Springs area, 6 times ... In the worst tie ups, crawling thru the worst traffic, sitting, idling, crawling, thru the worst heat, the car exhibits no over heating behaviors, whatsoever.. It just goes about it's business, like heat buildup, is never an issue.. The radiator fan is a HUGE mechanical clutched fan, and it seems to work extremely well ... The radiator, as far as I know, is the biggest one you can get, that fits, in a stock manner, in the stock location, etc. Again, the car has a big, "plate style", tranny cooler, also ... Wipers work, but blades need replacement... I've driven this car over 2,000 miles, in the last 40 months, and it's never left me stranded ...
