The car is powered by its numbers matching 400 Ram Air III V8 engine, TH400 automatic transmission with 12 bolt Safe-T-Track Differential. The Trans Am was the ultimate Firebird. For 1970 model year the Pontiac Trans Am was a holistic package of performance. The aerodynamics consisted of front and rear spoilers, a spoiler at each wheel and air extractors on each side of the fenders. Not only did this give the car an aggressive look unique only to the Trans Am, it also proved very functional as the combination of the front spoiler and air extractors added 50 pounds of downforce at highway speeds which assisted to most excellent front-end stability. The suspension features a beefy 1 ¼ inch front stabilizer bar and an added rear stabilizer bar and the 400 cubic inch Ram Air V8 with 4 barrel carburation features 10.5:1 compression developing 345 horse power and 430 pound feet of torque.
