1964 Pontiac GTO Additional Info:
This 1964 Pontiac GTO was owned by the original owner until 2015, and is largely an un-restored original!
Ordered from Bryant Pontiac in Covina, California in early April of 1964, the car was delivered to it's new owner on April 15, 1964. Documentation includes a number of hand written notebooks which indicate the date, millage, gallons of fuel and total cost of fuel put in the car. The first entry is on April 15, 1964 where the owner notes the car had 15 miles and he filled the tank with 16.2 gallons of fuel. Additional documentation includes an original California Certificate of Registration, the original owners manual, PHS verifying the car as a true GTO, a history of the car from the original owner, many handwritten notes and a number of receipts.
Aside from some minor surface rust in the trunk of the car (see picture) this is an all original body panel, rust and patch free car! See the picture of the amazing, original floor pans! Also see in the pictures of the undercarriage with the factory markings still visible on the drive-shaft and rear differential. This GTO has always been garaged and was in California until Nov. of 1975 when the original owner moved to Colorado. According to the original owner the car was only repainted once in 1980. The GTO was repaintedin it's original color of Yorktown Blue after an accident. The GTO was hit in the rear quarter behind the drives door and pushed into a ditch which pushed the right front bumper up slightly and in turn dented the right front fender. The repaint still looks nice but has a number of chips (see picture for example).
The 389 CID 4 barrel engine, M-20 close ratio 4-speed transmission, Safe-T-Track 3.23 ratio rear differential, carburetor, and differential are original to this car (numbers matching). Additional original options for this GTO included Redline tires, dual exhaust, push button radio (still works), under hood and trunk lights, and a padded dash. The original owner had the factory tachometer, and power steering added.
The engine was rebuilt in June of 2006. The block was bored 30 over, decked, the mains were line honed, and the rotating assembly was balanced. New parts included Keith Black pistons, SCAT rods, Ferra valves, roller rockers, and screw in studs. The M-20 4-speed transmission has new bearings and syncros. The engine has approximately 5,500 miles on it since the rebuild. The engine runs strong!
The interior is in exceptional condition, and original except for the carpet and sill plates. The radio, speedometer, and tachometer work perfectly.
You will be hard pressed to find another GTO that is this solid, original, and runs and drives as well as this one does!
