This is a prime opportunity to tinker with your dream car during this unusual time in our economy. I believe this is one of the safest ways to use your spare funds in a solid investment. I know this convertible is not the infamous GTO, but the Lemans Sport is the next best thing and this car could easily be turned into a GTO or a cool "The Judge" if the new owner so desires. 1971 was the last of the three year run on the Judge and the Judge Convertible. This was next to the last year that Pontiac made a convertible in the GM A-Body convertible line. After 1972 the Lemans and GTO convertible ended.
These convertible's are getting very hard to come by in decent shape nowadays. I've heard they only made 678 GTO convertible's in 1971. Why not make yourself one that looks just like the real deal. Here is a special chance to own a very rare Lemans Sport Convertible without emptying out your bank account. This model started life in the beautiful Nordic Silver Poly Code 13 as verified by the picture of the Data Plate.

I purchased this Pontiac from a close buddy of mine, because he was moving out of his shop and didn't have the room to take it with him. He had owned the car for over 22 years as verified by the title. The title shows that it was purchased in 1998. I always wanted one, since another buddy of mine had a beautiful Lucerne Blue Lemans Sport with a white convertible top in high school. He just didn't have the cool GTO Endura front nose. Since I ran short on funds to finish one of my other cars this one has to go to a new home.
I will try to explain as much as I know about this convertible that I learned from the previous owner and the short time that I've owned the car.
The buddy I purchased this Classic Convertible from said he just dropped the 400 in the engine compartment with a Turbo 400 transmission. He said it is a good running engine and trans, but it was never hooked up. All that work will be left up to the new owner. This is not the original numbers matching engine, but it does have a Quadrajet 4-barrel carburetor. It has a 4-Core radiator under the hood. It has a 10-bolt rear end, but I have no idea what the gear ratio is.
This is the first time this Classic Pontiac has ever been offered to the public on eBay. The majority of any parts for these cars are available at a wide variety of aftermarket muscle car parts suppliers around the country at reasonable prices. Any amount you spend on a car like this only increases its value. Over the past couple decades the general population has been treating these muscle cars like the works of art they were when they rolled out of the factory onto the showroom floor.
You really have to have an outgoing personality when you own a car of this magnitude, because everywhere you drive people will be giving you the thumbs up or wanting to talk to you about when they were younger and had a similar make or model. With the price of gas dropping as much as it has these cars can start to be being used as daily drivers.
The carpet will need to be replaced, but a new set of four black deluxe carpeted floor mats were placed on the floors in preparation for this auction. These bucket seats were recently reupholstered, and the balance of the interior is in relatively nice condition as shown in the pictures. The console will need the top shifter plate, and the correct shifter. Those can be found on eBay relatively inexpensive. The shifter in the car is not hooked up. The original factory AM radio is still mounted in the dash. The speedometer is the 140mph speedo just like in the GTO's and Judge's. I couldn't find any imperfections in the dash board. The dash really appears in very nice condition. All five pairs of seat belts are present for a family of five when the day comes for everyone to pile in to head to the local Drive-In movie theater.
The body was placed in gray primer to protect the body until it is time for the restoration and the new paint. I'm selling this convertible as needing a complete restoration where every part will need to be repaired, replaced, or restored. All the windows roll up and down and there are no cracks in the windshield.
I'm a Cutlass and 442 guy, so I know those cars very well. I don't know the Lemans and GTO's all that well. When I was trying to locate a few small items to prepare this Lemans for sale I spoke with a very nice gentleman who was the GTO guru in his area on the East Coast. He was very helpful and gave me a good deal of knowledge that was much appreciated. I told him what my intentions were with this car. He suggested that I do not sell the ram-air hood with the car or the clean fenders. He told me the hood is worth about $3500-$4000, and the fenders are one year only with those lower side vents for the year 1972 only. He said the fenders are worth about $2,000 each. I felt I wanted the new owner to have those parts with the sale. The grille's were just placed in the cool endura front nose. Those were missing when I purchased the car.
This convertible sits on a full set of Pontiac 15" inch Honeycomb Wheels with a set of four B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A raised white lettered tires with very good tread with all four center caps, three beauty trim rings, and chrome lug nuts. I have been saving this set of five 15" inch Honeycomb wheels for well over a decade. I know how hard it is to come by original Honeycomb wheels, but I felt this was just the right car to let them go on. I thought the new owner would really like to have them whether they use this car for parts or if they fully restore the car.
I didn't see any evidence of this car being in any accidents outside of an area on the drivers rear quarter panel that looks like it was tapped out at the very edge above the rear bumper. That drivers rear quarter panel will need some repair on the lower portion of that panel as well.
The floors have had some replacement work done at some point, but the frame looks in good condition from everywhere I looked. The original trunk floor also looks in good condition, and was coated with AC Delco black and aqua spatter spray to make it appear factory correct. An original jack, jack stand, and crow bar were nicely detailed and sit on a brand new trunk mat. The trunk also carries a full size Pontiac 15" inch Honeycomb wheel with a B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A spare tire.
The convertible top canvass will need to be replaced, but the back glass portion is still in tact. The top frame is complete with the top motor, top lines, and top cylinders. The cylinders are disconnected in order to put the top in the up position and completely covered to protect the interior. The top will remain covered and the car will be safely stored until pick-up or transport. There is a convertible top California boot in the trunk that will be included in the sale.
I was told by the previous owner that the mileage is correct at just rolling over once. In the majority of states the mileage comes up exempt on the new freshly issued title's on cars that are more than 10 years old.The open, clean, and clear title will be sent to the new owner the same day the funds are clear by U.S. Priority Mail. A very nice 1971 Lemans GTO owners manual is also included in the sale and will be sent out with the title to the lucky winning bidder.
Why not make your money work for you while you enjoy yourself. I would have to say this is a great car to take your time and restore properly to bring it back to its former glory. Any money spent restoring a convertible like this is money well spent. Remember when the top goes down the price goes up. This is a great car to work on as a father and son project that will create memories to last a lifetime.

Note: This value does not represent a 100 point show car or a #1 vehicle. Those vehicles can reach much higher prices.
Nada has the average condition valued at $26,500, which theyconsider in good overall condition that could be an older restoration or a well maintained original vehicle that is completely operable. The exterior paint, trim, and mechanics are presentable and serviceable inside and out.They say an average condition car is considered a20-Footer!
Nada has the lowest condition LeMans Convertible valued at $13,000 being considered a deteriorated restoration or a very poor restoration, but mostly usable "As-Is!" The lowest value does not represent a parts car, but would be considered as the price for a car needing a complete restoration.
The Nada numbers don't lie! This Classic 1971 Pontiac LeMans Sport Convertible is a very valuable classic muscle car. Those Nada prices above do not take into consideration all the expensive GTO Endura front end parts.
These super rare convertible's have consistently shown toescalate in value with each quarter. Any amount of money that is spent making this car into the ultimate dream car will certainly be worthwhile. What you see is exactly what you get! Except Mattie does not come with the sale. She would cost quite a bit extra.
