1961 Pontiac Catalina Convertible Additional Info:
This 1961 Pontiac Catalina Convertible is a cool-cruising droptop with a great color combo and plenty of the details you love. So it already has your attention even before you see the serious upgrade in V8 power under the hood. And the total package proves this is a great classic for both show and go.
Full-size convertibles have their own stratosphere of cool, and it's always expanding. So when this example was restored to have a glossy maroon presentation that loves the sunlight, you know you have a special cruiser on your hands. Pontiacs of this era were out to dominate the road with the Wide Track style that made these a legend. It includes the wraparound chrome bumpers that were integrated so nicely into the sheetmetal; an integrated trim line that starts at the door and doesn't finish until the end of the car; and this even has whitewall tires to match the white roof. Plus, we know you love the way the dual grilles taper inward so that the hood has a distinct overhang to showcase the Pontiac's arrowhead. So it truly puts a stylish face forward. This Catalina owned the boulevard back in the day. It still has that presence now, especially with the desirable 8-lug wheel setup.
The roof powers down with the flip of a switch, and it reveals an impressive interior. The two-tone maroon with white accents coordinates with the exterior paint and whitewalls to deliver a very uniform look inside and out. Plus, as a full-size Pontiac, there's plenty of room for family and friends. So you get to share this nice presentation any time you want. This has a terrific classic look with the stylish steering wheel and a well-preserved shining dash. It's such an authentic classic, right down to the detail like the AM radio that's still on display. But they also added the right upgrades. You have provisions for R134a air conditioning, and the cleanly installed auxiliary gauge trio lets you know there's something special under the hood.
The engine bay shows off more of this car's restored personality. After all, they never made it this shiny or tidy at the factory. They also never made it this powerful. This one has been upgraded with the 455 cubic-inch V8. The largest of the large-journal engines was not even available in '61, and the upgrades didn't stop there. This big motor has been enhanced with a Holley four-barrel carburetor, Edelbrock intake, and headers that add power while contributing to the rumble of the 2.5-inch dual exhaust. This whole package is not just added muscle, they were thoughtful in the supporting components, too. The TH400 three-speed automatic transmission is stout enough to handle the big power while also delivering smooth shifting, and the Be Cool aluminum radiator w/electric fan helps keep this big block upgrade running cool. Plus, power steering and power brakes ensure the easy cruising attitude you expect from a Catalina.
This is the rare Pontiac droptop that has been restored for added style and power. That makes for an irresistible classic you need to get your hands on right now. Call today!!!
