1971 Pontiac Firebird Additional Info:

For sale is my rare 1971 Pontiac Firebird Formula 400. This car was restored back in 2007-2009. That to include: paint, chrome rear bumper, potmetal pieces, emblems, front lens, windshield, most all front and rear suspension components as well as the rebuild of the engine, transmission and clutch assembly.

This car originally was finished in Aztec Gold with a black vinyl roof and a 3 speed M13 manual transmission. It now wears the beautiful basecoat clearcoat Lucerne metallic Blue paint. And the ever so reliable Muncie M20 4 speed transmission. The car has power steering, power front disc brakes, remote left side mirror, factory tinted glass, AM Radio and has the first year offered 15” x 7” factory Honeycomb wheels sporting 225-70R-15 BF Goodrich RadialT/A’s.

The engine is numbers matching and is built to stock specs. It still uses the “Quadrajet” 4 barrel carburetor with an automatic choke and has a “Pertronix” electronic ignition up-grade. Engine runs strong with no issues including no fluid leaks of any type from any where. The rear differential is a 10 bolt GM open type with 3.42 gearing. The exhaust is a dual system with a “Flowmaster” transverse muffler exiting out of factory style polished Stainless Steel tips. Car sounds muscular and drives, steers and shifts beautifully.

The interior is in almost new condition. To include new front seat covers and carpet. The rest of the interior is from what I can tell original. The dash pad has no cracking only a minor dimpled area that can be seen in the photo. The optional Formula steering wheel is perfect also. The rear seating area and door panels are in great condition as well as the headliner. All can be noticed in the photos. The side glass is scratch free as well as the rear. The front windshield was replaced but has one 3/8” fish eye on the passenger side. The body is super straight with great gaps, shut lines and solid closing doors. All windows roll easy and all door locks work with both the button and outside key. All gauges including the clock function as they should but the tachometer is off approximately 600 RPM as you get up to around 2, 000-2500 RPM. I always remember Sun Super Tach’s replacing the factory tachometers of the day because they were slow and inaccurate. All lights and accessories work as they should including the cigar lighter and AM radio. In the trunk we have a compact spare tire along with all the jack components.

Overall Conditions: (and I'm very picky)

Body is an 8.5

Paint is an 8.0

Interior is a 9.0

Drivetrain is a 9.0

Your viewing a car you can feel confident about driving and showing without any issues. It’s basically in new condition with only maybe 1,000 miles on the restoration and drivetrain. You’ll also be the only Firebird Formula 400 at most any car show event. I speak from experience. As I say “It’s the other Trans Am” when people say they haven't seen one of these type Firebirds before.

I’m sure I missed items of interest for all you Pontiac and muscle car enthusiasts interested in this rare bird. That’s why I’m including my cell number below so you can call and speak with me to discuss the car and request any additional photos.

Note: For all the car dealers out there looking. Here’s a car that’s really well sorted and needs nothing. I can almost guarantee you a 15% yield on the sale of this car at your dealers lot. I say that from having over 25 years of collector car appraisal and mechanical experience. Not to mention both auction results and the latest 2020 collector car price guide predictions. These birds are flying up in price $$$.

Good luck and happy bidding.
