This 1965 Pontiac Catalina 2+2 is powered by a 421ci Tri-Power induction converted V8 paired with a 4 Speed Muncie Transmission. It is finished in the cars original Montero Red color, and was painted again under previous ownership. All exterior chrome and stainless are original. Interior wise, the cars chrome, upholstery, and headliner are all original. The carpet was replaced with new black carpet and the buckets were recovered in high end black vinyl. The biggest interior modifications are the... Simpson Racing lapbelts, and the Stewart Warner coulmn-mounted tachometer. The original AM radio was converted to push button AM/FM along with the installation of a new speaker. The battery was recently replaced with an original styled battery from Antique Auto Battery. This Catalina is equipped with a full custom 2.5” stainless exhaust from the Doug’s D-Port Thermocoated Headers to the Vibrant Performance side exits. Everything from the horns back has been replaced or rebuilt on this 2+2. On the 421, we have the aluminum intake off of the ‘66, sporting three Rochester twin barrel carburetors with individual air cleaners. The 421 is now equipped with a PerTronix billet distribution block and a Flamethrower coil firing NGK plugs. This 421 is running a Competition Cams hydraulic roller cam setup along with Manley stainless steel valves, Pac Alloy valve springs, and a multiple-index timing chain. Now in order to keep all of this nice and cool, a Butler Performance water pump was installed, along with a seven blade clutch-in fan. The engine is now conservatively rated around 500HP, and is backed by a Centerforce clutch assembly, mated to the Muncie M21 4-Speed Manual. The transmission is now followed by a 4:10 rear differential The car is equipped with Pontiac Motor Division 8-Lug wheels in excellent condition wrapped in new BFGoodrich Coker red-stripe radials to put that power to good use. Along with those are the eight-lug tire mounting adapters and the eight-lug balancing adapters. The car has all of the original tools and jack. Absolutely all of the sheet metal is original and has never seen a spot of rust. The car also has all new KYB gas shocks up front, new QA1 Hydraulic shocks in the rear, an all new brake system, and a new high torque starter. The Catalina does have a few tasteful exterior modifications as well, all easily reversible, such as the GTO style hood scoop (to break up the monotony of that massive hood), and the Hurst badges. This Catalina 2+2 has records all the way back to the original Protecto-Plate and registration. Records on this car fill up nearly three two-inch binders. All PHS documents are present, along with receipts for everything. This is an enthusiast’s car through and through, and the car truly sells itself. Truly no expense was spared, and it shows.
