I am pleased to present this 1965 Bonneville Custom Safari wagon. A very rare find! 389 ci V8, 3 speed Turbo Hydramatic. This is a ONE OWNER car, Original motor and transmission. CALIFORNIA CAR!
Purchased at A.E. England Pontiac in Hollywood California and has remained at the same residence in Los Angeles, Ca. all her life. I have the Original title, Build Sheet, owner’s manuals, purchase order, registration and more.
This is a Special order car with a ton of added options listed on the build sheet and purchase order.
The car has 86,079 original miles on the odometer. The engine was rebuilt several years ago. The owner states he had the engine and transmission removed from the car and sent out for rebuilding and blueprinting. This is a true “numbers matching” car. It runs Amazing! It starts runs and drives exactly the same as it did in 1965. It was recently serviced on 5/8/19 at Dodge Bros Automotive, oil change, new hoses, new brake master cylinder and necessary maintenance all listed on the service record in hand.
It also has newer shocks and exhaust. It has a correct set of Michelin steel belted radial tires with about 10k left on them. The transmission shifts smoothly and on time. It has a 4 barrel carburetor, most came with only 2. The owner ordered all of the whistles and bells on this beauty!
I love the way the Pontiac robbed some style from the GTO with this front end and dash display. It’s a great aggressive look that sets this model aside from other brands.
There are zero rust issues with this car. It appears it was repainted long ago. There are no signs of bondo or any other body filler on the car. There is minor body damage if any, the worst being the small dent on the rear passenger side near the tail light. The roof rack is in very good condition. All 4 original hubcaps are in good condition. The 83 year old owner took great pride in this car and it has been well maintained all of her life. Most importantly what makes this car so solid is the fact that this car has never been off the street. She has never been stored for any length of time. Driven regularly and maintained. Just recently registered as a non-op, registration just expired last year.
All of the doors, hood and rear hatch seams line up perfectly.
All frame, rockers, floor pans and fender wells are solid. It handles very well on the back roads or freeways. A dependable daily driver. The drive train is solid as well as the chassis and suspension. No play in the steering wheel and the brakes work perfectly with no pulling. The chrome on the front and rear bumpers still shine like new with no dents. This car does NOT need a full restoration.
What also makes this car so rare are the number produced, ONLY 6,460! When I researched this model I had a hard time finding any. They are just not out there. The sister car to this one is the Catalina. There were more than 22,000 produced, making the Bonneville even more rare. Please view all of the photos and documentation as well as the custom order list on this car, then try and find another one. I just love it!
The Good:
Solid drive train
Solid chassis and suspension
All gauges work
The head lights and bright lights and tail lights work
The blinkers work
The windshield wipers work
The dome light package all works including the one under the dash
The original AM/FM radio works great
The cigarette lighter works
The power rear window works
I did get the clock to tick. I know it just needs the gear cleaned and lubed
The power front seat works, all 6 settings.
The interior is in very good condition considering its age. The back rumble seat is in nearly flawless condition. The carpet is still in pretty good condition showing a little wear.
What it needs:
A good paint job
Repair the power antenna
A new air conditioner compressor
The interior needs some love. The 2 bench seats need to be recovered.
The headliner has a few tears in it.
Please feel free to message me with any questions or request specific photos and I will try and accommodate your requests as quickly as possible. I require a $500.00 deposit via PayPal within 24 hours at end of auction and the balance within 5 business days by Cashier’s check or cash in person.
I purchased last month from my neighbor who is the original owner. I have not transferred any documentation so it is still in the owners name, making it a legit 54 year old one owner car. Again, any questions, just ask.
Thank you for your consideration.
