1973 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Vintage Racer
Hello and thank you for taking the time to look at my auction. What you are looking at is the culmination of a very large amount of time, money, and labor. If you are looking for a car that will draw a crowd and make you the star of the show wherever you go....you just found it! In 1969, Pontiac bought the rights to use the Trans Am name from the SCCA road racing seriesto put on it's special high performanceFirebird. Sadly, you don't see many Firebird Trans Ams that are built to look like the cars that were used to race in that series. After watching videos of Roger Bollinger racing his 1970 Trans Am in vintage races and blowing everyone off the track,I set out to create one that could not only be raced, but that could be used on the street. How much fun will it be to watchpeople's faces when you pull into the cruise night or car show with this monster?

This one started life as a 1973 Firebird. I bought it because of the beautiful, solidfoundation of the body and frame. I immediately stripped the entire car to a bare shell and started from scratch. Both the body and frame were stripped to bare metal and refinished. The body shell was fitted with an 8 point chromoly roll cage. The entire inside of the shell is coated with black urethane Raptor bedliner, so it is absolutely indestructible to wear and/or moisture, and helps to repel heat and noise. The exterior of the body is done in Laguna Blue with 5 coats of urethane clearcoat, along with the factory 70-72 Trans Am striping, emblems, and decals. The racing numbers are decals so they can be removed or changed if desired. Both front and rear windshields are flush mounted for aerodynamics and strapped down. The oversized fender flares are one-offformed fiberglass. They are attached under the fender lips like the originalspoilers were. All hardware is stainless steel. There arepins holding down both the hood and the trunk lid.All chrome on the outside of the car is brand new. The exterior of the car is absolutely stunning. Not a single scratch, dent, or chip.....and the underside of the car is as perfect as the top side is. The car simply glows and you will never see a more eye-catching combination of colors than the design on this car.
The interior is all business. The dash is aluminum with a full array of white-faced Dolphin gauges. I actually sourced a 1970's vintage racing steering wheel to use on it. As I said earlier, the entire inside of the body shell is coated in black urethane Raptor bedliner, which is indestructible and easy to clean. The seats are black padded racing buckets with black 5 point race harnesses. All lights, turn signals, wipers, and horn work. The ignition is controlled by the original key, but the starter is actuated by a push button on the dash. There are window nets that are attached to the roof and held to the doors by small neodinium magnets, which make them very easy to put up and down quickly. I even sourced a vintage racing helmet that I painted to match the car. It's the perfect prop to use at a car show.....or to put on and get serious!
The subframe is mounted with solid aluminum bushings from Pro-Touring F Body. The suspension is lowered 2.5 inches all the way around with WS6 springs, and huge Summit Racing sway bars and high performance shocksboth front and rear. The car has 4 wheel disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors. It features a fast ratio steering gearbox for lightning quickresponse. It has 10 inch wide Torq-Thrust wheels wrapped in 295/50/15 Firestone Firehawk Indy 500 tires on all four corners. The car handles unlike any F-body I have ever driven. It feels like it's plantedon rails at any speed. It is low, so you probably won't want to take it down dirt roads.....but on the highway it is a dream to drive.
For the drivetrain, I built a 1970 Pontiac 400 engine, so nice that it is still on the stock bore. I usedPontiac #13 RAM AIR III automatic cylinder heads. I installed a Pontiac"068"camshaft to complete the RAM AIR III package. The engine is completely rebuilt andall brand new. It has tons of oil pressure and runs perfectly. It runs a Jet Performance Stage 2 Quadrajet with electric choke, and has a high-torque racing starter, so it always starts easily. The ignition is apowerful and reliableHEI unit. It has a 4 core aluminum radiator. The exhaust runs throughBlackjack headers and into open 4 inch sidepipes. It sounds absolutely AMAZING. All that power runs through a brand new Jegs race-prepped TH350 automatic transmission, with 2300RPM stall converter, and is shifted by a B&M ratchet shifter. The rear end is a GM 10 bolt with B&M cast aluminum cover with bearing supports, Positraction, and 3:23 gears. The car starts and runs, and shiftsperfectly. It is an easy 400 horsepowerfactory-engineered, proven, and reliable combination. It has a ton of power but is very streetable and veryeasy to maintain.

As I was building the car, I knew it was turning out to be something special. When it was finished, the car turned out to be one of the most unique and eye-catching vehicles I have ever laid eyes on.The car turned out so nice, that it's almost too nice to drive. I feel like it should be shown before it is put into full duty, simply because the underside is so beautiful that it would be scary to even hit a mud puddle with it! Regardless of what the new owner has planned for it, I can guarantee that thisTrans Am is going to provide a TON of fun for them. Do not buy this car if you don't like attention, because this car is going to drawserious attentionwherever it goes. Between the sound and the look, everyone that has seen it has gone crazy over it.That being said.....this car is not approved by little old ladies, small dogs, or Prius owners. (unless they are cool Prius owners)
