1966 PONTIAC GTO "242" STUNNING “TIGER GOLD” URETHANE BASE/CLEAR PAINT W/BLACK INTERIOR, 400/335HP, 4 SPEED, 12 BOLT POSI, POWER STEERING, RETIRED OWNER SINCE 2003, BEAUTIFUL READY TO ENJOY.

You are bidding on a beautiful 1966 Pontiac "242" GTO that is ready to drive and enjoy. It can be driven with confidence. This is the real deal 1966 “242” Vin coded GTO that you have been waiting for. I have painfully decided that it is time to pass the torch on my beloved GTO to another enthusiast who will have more time to use and enjoy it. History i can impart it was originally a west coast car built last week of March 66' in Fremont California at some point it went to Arizona (i have an old 70's registration from AZ included) i bought it in 03' in Maryland. Here are more details.

The Details;

I had a full professional paint and body restoration completed in May 2005 still looks as good as the day it was finished. Always garage kept carefully driven only 2k miles since completion. The body is pin straight correct panel fit tight gaps whistle clean sheet metal. The paint was done right in Tiger Gold base with 3 coats of clear urethane buffed to a mirror-glass finish new rubbers it looks excellent upon close inspection. A correct pin stripe was added. The car was stripped painted in a correct for the year color “Tiger Gold” that was a special color made by “Royal Pontiac” which coined the phrase “Tiger in The Tank”. It has clean chrome, emblems, stainless, and badges. It has Weld Polished Aluminum wheels w/Eagle ST Radialsthat complement the exterior. The original interior redone by a prior owner in black cloth that I have come to appreciate over the years simply due to the comfort level in varying degrees of weather hot or cold the seats are always at a constant and they still retain the original design pattern. It has power steering, upgraded Pontiac Cassette/AM FM radio w/cd changer in trunk, factory console, clock (not working) and more. The frame, floors, trunk are solid and a pleasure to see in this condition. PHS docs are included in sale.

The Mechanics;

NOM 72 period block Cast #481988 front stamp C072630YS code 400/335HP engine retains points distributor fires right up runs really nice mated to a rebuilt 4-Speed w/new clutch shifts properly. List of replaced items new shocks front and rear, rear springs and insulators, new clutch when trans was rebuilt, gas tank cleaned new sending unit, rebuilt carb, replaced o-rings and valve stems, brake lines, new alternator, brakes were done stop nicely, replaced rear axle bearing w/new gasket kit, new headlight switch, new motor mounts, throttle w/ cable bracket, bushings and sway bar, lower control arms, new spare, dual exhaust installed and much more i'm forgetting. Mechanically gone thru well sorted a truly enjoyable smooth running tight driving real GTO muscle car. On a personal note I purchased the car in 03' with 68k miles odo currently reads 70497 I put around 2k miles since I bought it however i just noticed my title had a clerical error it reads 107k actual (i should have checked back when i registered it in 03') hence I'm selling the car as *miles exempt *tmu (true mileage unknown).
