1977 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Additional Info:
I bought this original Bandit TA at Carlisle in the mid 1990's. I have the PHS documentation. It was 100% original. Even though it had sat for a while and looked weathered, the original paint, decals, wheels, motor, 4 speed trans etc got my attention. We drove it home from Carlisle that Fall.
After the car set for a few years, the market was changing and I decided I wanted to build a Pro-Touring Bandit car instead of stock original.
The car is completely restored from the ground up. It took the better part of 10 years. I replaced the original 400 with a very nice 425hp 455 Spott's Performance built engine. I still have the original block if wanted. It has various upgrades including, Cast iron RA Manifolds, Pypes polished stainless true dual exhaust including stainless factory looking splitters, 17" snowflake wheels, lowered front springs, factory AC that works great, factory looking digital radio with MP3, dynamat throughout. It has all new suspension parts The seat upholstery and door panels are all original and show quality. I found and installed a pair of NOS Hurst T-tops. Basically, all the things that you normally see on a 1977 TA that turns you off are not at issue here. There is zero rust. All sheet metal is original and installed properly. A brand new dash pad with no cracks. The undercarriage was restored with the body off the car.
I have the original build sheet info.
The car is extremely stock looking even though we made several mods. All the upgrades are very subtle.
We either cleaned up the original parts or replaced them with new parts. The paint is top notch. Since the restoration was completed in 2012, the car has sat in our climate controlled showroom except for a few Sunday drives. It also appears in a couple of Pypes and Cold Case Radiator commercials. However, I don't think we've put 200 miles on it since being completed.
I never kept track of all the expenses on the car but I know I have well over $60k in the car. During the build, I said I'll never get my money back on it but as most of you know, Bandit cars values have skyrocketed. This car is one of the nicest in the country.
The car is not doing me any good in the showroom. So it's available for sale unless one of these other cars sells first. If that happens, I'll keep the car. I also have a Low mileage Super Charged 2005 GTO, my low mileage Super Charged 2005 Mustang GT and my 2001 ProCharged 6 speed TA for sale. One of them is going.
