1969 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am Tribute Additional Info:
If you are looking for a car from the early days of the Pony car wars, but one that is a little bit different, then check out this car. This is really a double tribute car. It not only celebrates the very first Firebird T/A from '69, of which only 689 were built, but also the early days of Trans Am racing at a time referred to as "the golden years" of the series. Pontiac stylists did a really nice job with the original T/A and this car does a really nice job reproducing it. The original White with Blue stripes paint job will turn heads wherever it shows up. Pontiac distinguished themselves from their cousins by integrating the bumper into the design of the front end giving it a more streamlined look. The center is chromed around the grill and the quad headlights are surrounded by body color. Ram air scoops on the leading edge of the hood have the blue stripes seeming to originate from within them, tracing back over the hood, roof, and trunk, even capturing the rear wing. Trans Am appears in script on the front fender along with air extractor vents just behind the wheels. Slit taillights are surrounded by the blue of the stripes with a Firebird badge in between them and are underlined by a thin chrome bumper. A bit of rake gives the car a bit of attitude, and the Rally wheels are body colored with the spokes painted silver with a polished steel trim ring. Open the door and you will find a blue interior that nicely compliments the stripes and is in very nice condition. The door panel has a long armrest that is comfortable for long cruises along with a separate pull handle and a Firebird emblem. A three spoke steering wheel sits in front of a nice wood tone dashboard with a 160 MPH speedometer and basic engine indicators tucked back into deep pods to reduce glare and a newer style AM/FM radio in the center. High back bucket seats have pleated centers with smooth vinyl edges and are very comfortable. A long tapering console between the seats carries the wood toned treatment also, has some storage space in it, is edged in chrome, and has the wooden shift knob for the automatic transmission extending from it. The carpet and headliner are both in good shape and complete the look of the interior nicely. The 400 cubic inch motor under the hood is a strong, good running engine. It is nestled down in a neat and clean engine bay, and is painted Pontiac blue, which just happens to match the stripes very well. A chrome air filter housing sits on top of a QFT 4-barrel carb that feeds a stock intake manifold. Stock exhaust manifolds lead out to a true dual exhaust system with straight through mufflers that give the exhaust a nice sound. Power steering helps you maneuver that 400 around in a parking lot, (or to the starting line), and power front disc brakes help you haul it back down from speed in the event that you cut that engine loose. 215/65R15 tires are mounted on those Rally wheels in the back, with 205/65R15 tires in the front. A very nice tribute to the original Pontiac Trans Am that would go on to become a legendary street fighter and part of Pontiac history. Come on down and check it out. You might decide to make it part of your own personal history.
