The 1968 Pontiac Firebird has that terrific front end that looks absolutely aggressive. It only gets better on one that has been given a full midnight paint package and plenty of upgraded V8 power to create a muscle car that’s knows how to be as mean as it looks. Dual hood scoops, a duck tail spoiler, and a full-width chrome front end that lets this Firebird look like it’s spreading its wings… oh yeah, this is one terrific package. And that’s... before you look at the slick black paint that covers nearly every inch of this straight sheetmetal. While the total package looks like a nicely restored classic coupe, the modern US Mags alloys with an aggressive 17/18-inch front/rear stagger also hint at the upgrades within. The full midnight package continues inside with an aggressive black interior. Low-back bucket seats, a center console, and plenty of fresh components make this a fine place to spend some time. There’s even air conditioning for when you want the windows up. But this classic is no coddler. You know that when your right hand grabs the ratchet shifter, and your left one feels the grip of the sports steering wheel. With a full AutoMeter auxiliary gauge package (including the large column-mounted tach) you know there’s something quite special under the hood. The engine bay looks terrific with all the polished components radiating from within the slick darkness. This V8 looks so fresh, because it’s believed to only have about 2,000 miles on it since completing restoration. But you’ve also spotted more than just clean components. This is a monster motor with a 400 cubic-inch block that was professionally bored .60 over for 467ci total. It has been enhanced and fortified with a Comp Cams Xtreme Energy Camshaft, milled head, Ferrea racing valves, Crower springs, Scorpion roller rockers, Mallory ignition, and a large aluminum radiator w/dual electric fans to keep it all cool. It inhales deeply with a large Proform 950 CFM four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock Performer EPS intake. And this mighty motor exhales with long tube headers adding even more power while contributing to the thunder of the Flowmaster dual exhaust. Getting this power to the ground is a TH350 three-speed automatic transmission with the proper stall to keep you in the right power-band. This feeds a stout Ford 9-inch rear with Moser axles and a versatile 3.70 ratio. Plus, there are Competition Engineering frame connectors and traction bars to make sure those wide rear wheels stay planted when it’s time to bring the power to the streets. Control is also well-in hand thanks to front disc brakes, power steering, and modern Hankook Ventus S1 performance tires. Complete with build receipts and title documentation, this is one wild and aggressive Firebird. So don’t let this mean machine fly into someone else’s garage. Call now!
