I originally purchased this car to keep and restore. However, I recently purchased a more desirable car for myself and need the room.
I have a box of information that came with the car when I bought it. There are some maintenance records and some past registrations. The last owner believed that there were only 15 1965 2+2 convertibles left on the road.
The car is comfortable, powerful and easy to drive.
AllThe 2+2 option was borrowed from the European sports cars with seating for 4, two in the front + 2 in the rear. It came with a 421 cu. in., 356-hp V-8. It has a 4-barrel carburetor. The car came from the factory with stiffened suspension for improved handling with heavy duty springs and sway bars. In 1965 the 2+2 outperformed the Ferrari 2+2 in a heads-up performance test.
This rare black on yellow convertible looks and runs great. The interior has just been refreshed. It sports a new top, bucket seats, center console and, factory eight-lug wheels. The original am radio has been converted to am/fm and the speakers have been replaced and upgraded. New shocks have been installed. It appears to be a relatively unmolested car. There are factory chalk marks under the hood. In this 49-year-old car has had only two owners who drove it sparingly. The average yearly mileage is just less than 2400 miles per year.
I was informed by the 2nd owner’s daughter that her father had purchased the car from an elderly neighbor and he drove it into his 80s. It pulls strong and the power steering is magnificent. This car will make a wonderful driver or in great shape for a complete restoration. You won’t be disappointed.
