1973 Pontiac Trans Am SD 455, 4-Speed Additional Info:
Carlyle Motors is excited to offer for sale one of the rarest Trans Ams ever built! 1 of only 72 ever built with the highly collectible SD-455 Super Duty engine and even more rare 4-Speed Transmission! And if that wasn't enough, it isNumbers Matching, PHS Documented andBuccaneer Red! It just doesn't get any better than that! This car is currently located in Colorado with it's current owner who bought it from us several years ago. He graciously took new pictures for us with the Rocky Mountains in the background. He spent a lot of time and money making this car even better than it was when it left our collection. His focus was on making this car correct in every way he could. From making sure it had the correct, restored master cylinder to the correct alternator, pulleys and vacuum hoses, he wanted this car to be as correct as possible. He then moved onto putting correct screws, nuts and bolts everywhere he could see they weren't exactly correct. He made sure all the rubber seals arount the hood were correct and even put in a new, correct wiring harness when he installed a brand new, NOS, correct and perfect dash. That new, NOS dash was not cheap! He made sure the heater box cover was correct and restored and when he removed the heater box cover, he took a picture of the partial VIN stamp on the firewall which further documents this car as being numbers matching (picture shown below). He returned the car to manual windows which is correct according to the PHS documentation and installed a brand new, NOS console to correct the power window switch which was installed by a previous owner. He even corrected the bracket that holds the 8-Track tape player! From new, correct headliner, to correct Hurst shifter to correct package tray with a brand new, single speaker box, there is just too much to mention. But needless to say, he wanted this car to be as correct as possible for it's next owner. This particular 73 SD-455 is without a doubt, a real SD-455 with numbers matching, VIN stamps on the 132 block and transmision as well as the firewall. It is a great color combination and one of the best on the market today. This car is easily rated an 8 out of 10 as it sits today. All of this work was done by a well known Trans Am restoration expert named Steve Shappaugh, in Lincoln, Nebraska. And, if you know who Steve is, you know that Steve and his shop are second to none when it comes to early second generation Firebirds. As the current owner puts it, "I am incredibly proud to be able to say that Steve Shappaugh fixed my car! If a car leaves his shop, you know it is 100% factory correct." This car, like most any other car on the market today has a few blemishes here and there but it shows very well and can be taken to any car show or cruise-in event and make it's owner proud. You might even bring home a trophy or two with it. So enjoy the pictures and call us to ask any questions you may have. Ask for Calvin at 713-466-8630 or on his cell phone at 832-289-5750. Thanks for looking at all of our cars. Sincerely, Carlyle Motors, LLC Houston, Texas (Showroom located in Katy, Texas.)
