1972 was the last year of production before 5 MPH bumper regulations forced manufacturers to dramatically change the front-end styling of their cars and build them longer and heavier to meet the new requirements. This pre-regulation Le Mans has a great looking front end, and with those hood scoops, even looks a bit like GTO. Pontiac's trademark feature is a split grill. The body colored bumper flows up and around the grill on each side meeting in the center and... is flanked by quad headlights. A set of hood scoops are perched just above the grill, pretty far forward on the hood, adding a bit of an aggressive look. The body is completely stock, and sometime in the past, has been resprayed in the factory original Quezal Gold. There are crease lines just above the wheel wells that bulge out like they are flexing a bit of muscle and the sloped rear window gives it a bit of a fastback look. A chrome rear bumper ties the look together nicely by picking up the splashes of chrome around the wheel wells and along the rocker panel. Open the door and you will find a black interior that has been refreshed and is in really nice condition. The door panel has chrome piping outlining the center and the pull handle. There is a two spoke steering wheel sitting in front of a wood tone upper dash panel with gauges set into it that appear to be newer. Ventilation and A/C controls are off to the right a bit just over the radio which sits in a brushed aluminum panel that underlines everything. The center console also gets the wood treatment and has the floor shifter for the automatic transmission. Pleated bucket seats are comfortable for cruising around town or cruising cross country and being a mid-sized car, there is plenty of room to take a few friends with you on those trips too. Carpets with floor mats and a neat and clean headliner tie the interior together nicely. Under the hood you will find a stock and number's matching, unmolested 350-cubic inch V8. There are signs of regular maintenance and the A/C is still running R12 and is still blowing cold. A fresh exhaust system has been hung front to rear that includes nice sounding Flowmaster mufflers. The suspension has also been refreshed with new springs and shocks both front and rear as well as new sway bar links up front. The car sits on PMC steel wheels with trim rings with 205/75R14 tires all around. Good looking, nice driving, mid-sized V8 car for you, (and your friends too if you wish) to head out and have some adventures in.
