Slick bodywork, beautiful chrome, iconic hardtop profile, four-speed transmission, and a big V8 under the hood... It's everything you would love about a restored 1967 Pontiac GTO with a Tempest kind of price.
The Pontiac A-bodies were always quite close in styling, but when investing in a restoration, it takes time to re-create the GTO's more aggressive appearance. This coupe does it right, and it starts with the paintwork. The factory-correct Mission Beige paint has been re-applied with a very professional hand. When the sunlight hits it, there's a great shine, thanks to the panels that perfectly reflect the first-gen GTO's Coke-bottle styling. By 1967 Pontiac Motor Division was into their Wide Track performance look, and it gave the A-bodies bold touches like the vertical stacked headlights and big chrome bumpers. But making sure this appears like a true GTO are correct upgrades like the hood scoop, mesh grille, all the correct badging, and the narrow sporty taillights shared with the best Pontiacs on the road. As you can tell from the pictures, all of these features are standouts because they look as good as if the factory applied them. You even get the correct wheels with redline tires.
It's hard not to make comparisons to the GTO when you step inside. Much of it looks the same, but where the muscle car always has a bit of a dark attitude, this one feels more classy and cheerful. It starts with the factory-correct Fawn interior. Two rows of benches mean you can take up to five family and friends along for the ride. And everyone will happily join you thanks to great features like air conditioning and an upgraded radio that looks vintage, but now has AM/FM and an input for your iPod. But it's the driver who gets the best features. You grab a three-spoke sports steering wheel with your left hand, and your right one is instantly attracted to the Hurst shifter. Plus, all the auxiliary gauges, including the AutoMeter tach let's your senses know there's something special under the hood.
People are already going to presume it's a real GTO, so why not make sure you can teach the factory Goats a lesson on the streets? While the turquoise block, shiny valve covers, and matching air topper look right for this era, you're actually looking at a 455 cubic-inch V8. Remember, that's 14% larger than anything the factory was giving the GTO in '66, and that displacement wouldn't be available in the GTO until 1970. It inhales deeply through a rebuilt four-barrel carburetor and exhales with authority from the dual exhaust. Plus, you're in full control of this big V8 and its rumbling soundtrack thanks to the four-speed manual transmission. Making sure you get to utilize this larger power to the fullest are great features like thick sway bars (front & rear), power steering, and front disc brakes.
Not only does this GTO tribute come with extra power, but also you get all the right paperwork. This includes the owner's manual, original warranty card, maintenance records, and more. You may never again find a classic that so perfectly mixes of luxury, uniqueness, quality, and speed for the money. Call today!!!
