In the paragraphs to follow we will give a brief description of the exterior, interior, and driveline of the Pontiac, but first we would like to tell you a little about us.
Smoky Mountain Traders is a classic car dealer in east Tennessee. We are family owned, operated, and own our entire inventory, no consignments, and only deal in muscle cars and vintage auto. You can count on us to have 70 to 80 cars at all times. We don't have a big show room that our customers would otherwise pay for. So, that's how we can sell for less than other dealers. To contact us for more information, pictures, or any questions call our office at (865)988-8088 or visit our SmokyMountainTraders website.
We will start off with the exterior of the GTO. It's straight down the sides with good gaps and fit of the doors, hood, a trunk. The bumpers and mirrors appear to have been replaced at the time of the resto with the resto of the chrome and stainless still being very nice. All the glass appears factory except for the windshield which was replaced. Looking at the paint it's Covered in the factory Mayfair Maize that has a good shine and is slick to the touch. To complete the look, it's sitting on a set of 14" Steel Wheels painted body color with stock small caps and the Firestone Red line tires.
Next, we will look at the interior of the '65. On the inside it's also done in the factory, code 216, Red color scheme. It has the front bucket seats with all the seat covers appearing to have been replaced and the padding being good. The door panels also appear to be replaced along with the carpet and seal plated. To break up the red, the headliner and visors are done in White. The metal of the doors and the dash is all painted in red and has a nice finish. Looking at the dash it has the factory Rally Gauge Cluster with Tach. All the gauges are working! The radio has been upgrade to a digital knobbed unit that is working as well.
Finally, we will get to the driveline of the Pontiac. Under the hood it's powered by a period correct 389 casting # 9778789. It's set up with the period correct 9778818 casting number Tri Power Intake with Rochester 2 Barrel Carbs. It's dressed in the Chrome Breathers and stock style chrome valve covers. For exhaust it has Manifolds with Chambered mufflers and dual pipes. The 389 is mated to the period correct 3851325 Casted Muncie Four Speed and a 10 Bolt Rear End. It does come with Power steering and the brakes are manual four wheel drum. When you look under this GTO you'll be impressed with how great all the floors and frame are. You'll also notice the gas tank was replaced along with the fuel lines.
