Some of the coolest cars are those that could have been, ike this 1969 Pontiac Firebird that has a bit of GTO Judge DNA running through its veins. Still packing V8 power and an awesome look, his is a neat ragtop that'll get everyone talking, nd at this price, t definitely won't last.Carousel Red is the archetypal Pontiac color and was best showcased on the GTO Judge. However, t looks just as good on the Goat's F-body cousin, nd this car stands out in a crowd without trying too hard. And quite honestly, his one looks truly amazing with exceptionally good bodywork accentuating the F-body's many wonderful curves and details. Check out the laser-straight crease that runs from nose to tail, he cool vents in the front fenders, nd, f course, he twin nostrils in the hood that made the Firebird look better than almost anything else on the road in 1969. Out back there's also a Trans Am style wing that makes this car look formidable from any angle, nd the nose has a combination of body-color headlight surrounds and a chrome grille, contrast that many enthusiasts seem to prefer. Black buckets have an inviting look like you've been here before. The carpets are excellent and are surely new while the door panels could very well be excellent originals. Standard factory gauges are joined by a set of Auto Meter gauges under the dash, ust ahead of the shifter for the TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. The factory 3-spoke steering wheel looks cool and remains in good shape, nd there's an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo head unit in the original radio's slot. You will also note that this is a factory A/C car, nd while the system has been removed, ll the components are included should you want to reinstall them. We also really like that they used a black convertible top instead of white, s the contrast makes the Firebird look sinister rather than colorful. The top is also power-actuated, o it drops out of sight in a matter of seconds, nd the trunk is correctly fitted with a reproduction mat.Pontiac's 350 cubic inch V8 shares a displacement, ut little else with the erstwhile Chevy powerplant, nd it has a sound all its own. It's also big on torque production, aking this bright red ragtop feel light on its feet and very capable out on the open road. It's covered in Pontiac Turquoise engine enamel and accessorized with a big chrome air cleaner and a set of Edelbrock valve covers that give it a period performance look. It starts with a bark from the dual exhaust system, hich features mandrel-bent tubing, nd a X-pipe and quickly settles into an even idle. There's a cam inside, o you can hear that there's some added horsepower on tap, nd with a high-stall torque converter in the transmission, t practically lunges off the line. The underside is ready to rock with big sway bars front and rear, ower steering and brakes, nd a proper stance that screams horsepower. Factory Rally II wheels are wrapped in 235/60/14 BFGoodrich radials that really fill the wheel arches.Lots of fun, ots of power, nd lots of eyeball appeal, his awesome Firebird ragtop is even more entertaining than its vivid colors would suggest.
