1977 Pontiac Trans Am Additional Info:
1977 Trans Am with numbers matching W72 400 4 speed. Super nice car with great paint finish and very clean interior. This is an un-restored survivor with one high quality repaint.
Equipped with t-tops (which is very unusual for a non-SE car in 1977), 72 Performance Package, speed, eluxe interior, ir conditioning, .23 gear and ultra rare Y96 firm ride suspension, aking it the most desirable combo available that year. This is a rare and very nicely optioned Trans Am.
BODY- This factory Starlight Black car has all of it's original panels and the body is laser straight and shiny. This car still has it's original floor and trunk pans, ith absolutely no rust anywhere. There has been no patch panels or rust repair work done ever. This is the cleanest Trans Am body I've ever seen. It's very hard to find Trans Am bodies this nice, specially t-tops cars.
INTERIOR- The interior is completely original to the car and still shows nicely for being nearly 40 years old. This car came with deluxe interior in Firethorn Red Lombardy cloth. The seats are in excellent condition and door panels look great too. The dash pad has no cracks, t and the bezel both look like new. However there is some discoloration of plastic pieces and seat material due to time and sun. The carpet looks good with no damage. Gauges, ights and signals all work properly except the clock and radio. Steering wheel is in excellent condition with no signs of wear and the ashtray looks to have never been used.
DRIVELINE- The original WA suffix W72 engine has the partial VIN number stamped on the front of the block and has never been rebuilt or removed from the car. This engine has the original carburetor, ntake, istributor, X4 heads, hrome valve covers, xhaust manifolds, /c compressor, lug wires etc. and has never been modded or altered. All factory vacuum lines are intact and even the carb's high speed idle still works when motor is cold. This engine still purrs like new. The car also has the original catalytic converter, uffler and original splitter exhaust tips. If you want to know how the factory did it, ust look here.
TRUNK AND ACCESSORIES- The trunk is solid and rust free with factory trunk splatter paint still showing like new. Factory jack, pare tire and inflator can are still intact and the original Hurst Hatch t-top bag is in excellent condition too. Factory snowflake wheels are included and are in very nice original condition with nice center caps.
CAR HISTORY- Car was sold new in Warren Ohio and I acquired it in Ohio from the second owner in 2009. I brought it to Florida, ut it away and never registered or tagged it. Car has a clear Ohio State title showing 48k miles.
It's becoming difficult to find early Trans Ams that haven't been rusted, agged out, rashed, atched together, elded up or rebuilt. Few are left like this one, rock solid gem that's never been abused or dismantled. It clearly has been kept indoors and well cared for over the years. And this becomes apparent when you see it, ear it run and drive it. It's like stepping back in time.
It needs only minor attention to make it truly exceptional. I don't think anyone would be disappointed with this one. It's a super nice reliable car that can be a winner at local car shows, riven proudly on the weekends or driven across the country tomorrow.
On Feb-21-16 at 10:37:46 PST, eller added the following information:The minor details that would make the car nicer are: charge the air conditioner, eplace t-top weatherstripping and dye or replace some interior plastic panels. This could be done for as little as $500.00.
