1968 Pontiac GTO GTO Additional Info:
1968 Pontiac GTO. Beautiful car that underwent a full body on restoration in about 2008. Driven less than 1500 miles since. Included are pictures of the restoration. Cameo Ivory with Turquoise blue interior. Car shines beautifully and is laser straight. I have the protecto plate and full owner history. Always a midwestern car. Iowa now nebraska.
Bought new in Waverly Iowa at Ritchie Pontiac. Original owners kept car until 1978 and then sold it to their neighbor kid who kept it until about 2007. Was then sold to a restoration shop near Des Moines Iowa. It underwent the restoration there for a couple living in Des Moines. Half way through the restoration the Buyer passed away and the wife was left to leave the "Dream Car" of her husbands stored and undriven until July of 2015 when I got it.
The car is very straight and solid. It had new rear full quarter panels installed. All chemical stripped and re worked to the beautiful example it is today. The engine compartment was freshened up and the whole trunk was restored with splatter paint and a new mat. See pictures. The under body is clean and solid. Undercoated and sprayed black. Looks awesome. Has been driven some though. I see no body filler or bubbles anywhere in this car. It was done right.
The interior is way above average. The head liner, arpet, ear package tray were all new. I recovered the front and rear seats with factory covers from OPG. The door panels and dash and dashboard are original. You may want to recover the dash pad. They make covers that go over the original and is very hard to detect. The car was an 8 track car so there is an opening down low where that should be. Factory AM FM radio. The horn center should be replaced too. This car is rare in the fact that it's a bench seat column shift car. Overall the interior is a 9! The new seats really made it!
The engine was rebuilt a while back and has about 40K on it. I located the last part of the vin on the front of the block. The Transmission was rebuild about 1500 miles ago. The Air Conditioner works as there are receipts for it being re worked, owever the flow of the air is weak. Resistor? Fan? This car runs drives stops and handles awesome. Upper a frame bushings should be replaced. Tires are new and the factory wheels were restored too. Higher octane gas is a must as it pings with the cheap stuff. Car is tuned and timed perfect. The rear bumper was rechromed. Dual exhaust is mean and sounds great. All lights blinkers etc work fine. Car has the optional hide away head lights. All was restored and works good. The front rubber bumper has some slight cracks. Don't know how that happened but it is there. Doesn't look bad though.
