Vintage Motorcars is proud to present this 1979 Pontiac Firebird Formula with its original 403 V8 and automatic transmission. This rare T-Top Formula is an exceptional car that will make the pickiest enthusiast happy.
Trans Ams are relatively easy to find…. But Firebird Formulas are more of a rare bird. In 1979; Pontiac produced 117,108 Trans Ams while only 24,851 Formulas were built. This Formula is rock-solid and was clearly a weekend driver for someone since day one. This is one of the nicest late 70’s Pontiacs I have ever had, and has been completely sorted out to make an excellent, turn-key toy for someone.
The exterior of this car has been professionally repainted in the correct #15L Platinum Silver with the correct 2-tone red/orange stripe package. The decals appear to be brand new. The car is laser straight, and shows extremely well. The paint is professionally laid and doesn’t show a single nick, scratch or dent. “Perfect” is a very strong word to use with a 38 year old vehicle… but this one comes pretty close.
The Carmine Red interior is flat-out beautiful. The seats show very nicely with no rips or tears and almost zero fading. Everything on the interior is original except the factory-correct headliner. The dash is also in near perfect condition, and all the gauges work properly and are nice and clear. This car also features the super-rare T-Tops. Everything works just as it should, and is truly a pleasure to drive.
The original Olds 403 V-8 is very strong, and shows no signs of smoke or any other issues. This is one of the most desirable engines of the 70’s, and this one does not disappoint! This is a very reliable car that you could drive on a daily basis if you wanted. It cruises down the road without running hot, and holds great oil pressure.
The original transmission shifts perfectly through the gears without clunking of shifting hard into gear. This car really does run and drive just like it should. All sitting on correct Formula wheels and brand new tires and center logos.
This Pontiac has recently received a fair amount of service to ensure you have a trouble-free drive. Consisting of:
All new pads and rotors all aroundNew shocks all aroundNew front emblemNew trunk mat and original GM floor matsNew alternatorNew front sway bar linksALL fluids changed (brake, oil, trans, rear end, coolant)New trans pan gasketNew oil pan gasketNew upper and lower radiator hosesNew belts
All-in-all… this Firebird Formula is a solid, rust free example of a super-rare classic from the 70’s that will certainly not disappoint.
