Have you checked out all of this 1953 Pontiac Chieftain yet??? It's a complete and clean custom build bathed in gold with a big Trans Am 403 V8 under the hood. And yes, you can pick it up this cool classic street rod for less than a Toyota Camry! This is a unique and stunning custom coupe. Combining the last of the old-school, pre-war curves, with a sneak preview of what was to come in the later 1950s, this slick Pontiac manages to be both sporty and formal at the same time. It starts with the Custom Catalina body that was introduced new in 1953. It was the lower production companion to Chevy's Bel Air hardtop design. This gives it the perfect lines to setup the gold and metallic burgundy two-tone paint. Plus, the rare roof design gives this coupe a more regal appearance and plenty more room for chrome trim. And speaking of the brightwork, there has been a lot invested in keeping the original center "silver streak", side trim, and window surrounds all looking their best. Of course it's not all of the originality that catches your eye. It's the custom components like the bold front end with airbrushed pinstripe graphics and the custom grille. There's the bright pipes that give the appearance of side exhaust. Even the rear has plenty of custom graphic work to attract attention. It all sits on an aggressively lowered stance that carries 17-inch American Racing Torq Thrust wheels that seem to perfectly blend the old and new styles of this street rod. One look at the interior, and it's obvious this has been upgraded from 50s-style. The tan vinyl seating has the pillow top luxury that was not available until a few decades later. Not only does this add more comfort, but it also allows for more features such as power seats and a new tilt steering wheel. At first glance the dash panel looks original, but then you realize its been updated with the same metallic paint that's on the rood of the car. Then you start to notice the full auxiliary gage package has been modernized for more reliable readouts. There are now even controls for R134 air conditioning. So now you realize how cool this custom build really is!It would not be a true street rod without a nice upgrade under the hood. The original 268 straight-eight motor was ditched for something with quite bit more muscle. Now it has Pontiac's largest displacement V8 under the hood. You can tell they had to do some work to get the big 403 cubic-inch V8 to fit in the engine bay, and all the custom fabrication really makes this one look like a cherished project. But this build was more than just about creating serious power and an intimidating exhaust rumble. The Chieftain now has power steering, automatic transmission, and front disc brakes. Even the rear suspension was upgraded to a trailing arm setup for better comfort. This is one cool coupe that will make you a unique hit on the streets and at the cruise-ins. Can you believe you can get all of this for well under $25K? Call today!!!
