1969 Pontiac Firebird Additional Info:
1969 Firebird convertible Trans Am clone project Whittling away at parts on my shelves and projects. It all began with good intentions...lol
$7600 opening bid
This is being sold as a ROLLER. No engine or trans. The only reason there are pics with the engine and transmission are because they also show the car. It was a v-8 car, and no clutch so assuming it was automatic. It was originally yellow. Clear title. Going on ebay tonight.
I picked this up as a project, and have really done zero since I got it. Floors, trunk floor, quarters and rear valence have been replaced. Crappy paint job was applied. The quarter replacement was about a 8/10 in skill level and looks pretty good. I'm picky and I only say this as my friend restores porsches for a living and I know what perfect is. Some further work will be needed to adjust door gaps to perfection. The floors and trunk floor were a 6/10 skill level. They cut, fitted, welded and then used seam sealer to finish the edges. Obviously, if you arent building a perfect show car, this is immaterial once carpet is applied, and you wont see it under the car. If you want perfection you will need to remove this sealer and finish.
The point is, there is zero rust and its all been cleaned. Nothing hiding here. Seats are fairly good. Original vinyl is stiff, and the drivers seat has one seam beginning to separate. Rear seat is very nice. Door panels are in decent shape with the vinyl coming loose around the edges. Could be re-glued and re-used. Same with the rear inner panels.
Top frame is all there and together with a not so bad top on it, but it has a rip. Its a power top car and all the pieces seem present. Have the radiator and original fuel tank. Rear end is just being held in by 2 U bolts, and the rubber pads are gone so the rear isnt sitting in there perfectly straight. Good enough to roll around. It has multiple rear springs in very nice shape. Not sure if they are replacements but the spring shackles appear to be. Also have the driveshaft, and was told it was a th350 trans that had been in the car.
Dash is nice, all gauges present. Console nice but not perfect or new looking. Have what appears to be all the trim pieces, door glass, rear side window glass is in the car still. I'm sure there are some small pieces missing. I didnt start the car, so nothing was bagged and tagged. I have a few boxes with stuff.
Repro Trans Am hood and rear spoiler. Have the hood scoop inserts, the open kind. They will need work to fit correctly. My thought was that since nobody is fooling anyone into thinking its one of the 8 originals, a tribute car with red, twin black stripes and a blacked out tail panel would look sharp. I do NOT have a windshield or carpet for the car.
ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION IN PICTURES WILL BE REMOVED AND ARE NOT PART OF THIS SALE. Will consider full size classics, convertibles, modern sportscars, motorcycles, jetskis, firearms. As long as we arent talking projects.I may be able to help deliver for a reasonable amount if you arent completely cross country, but will only do so if the car is paid for in advance. Please contact me to discuss before counting on this.
HAD someone ask me about the frame rails. Good point that I forgot to mention, and I dont have any pictures at the moment. Will try to get some. They are solid though, zero issues there. I keep thinking of things. Yes, I have the driveshaft, trans crossmember, exhaust manifolds.
WILL INCLUDE THE ENGINE AND TRANS FOR AN ADDITIONAL $3000. ENGINE IS A 400 WITH HYDRAULIC ROLLER CAM, FORGED PISTONS - ESTIMATED AT 390 HP. REBUILT IN 2006, WITH VERY FEW MILES, BALANCED AND EVERYTHING CHECKED/REDONE AT A COST OF $5000. HAVE COPIES OF RECEIPTS. TRANS IS A 2004R BUILT AT THAT SAME TIME FOR THIS ENGINE BY PHOENIX TRANSMISSION, 2200 RPM LOCKUP CONVERTER AT A COST OF $2300. HOLLEY 950 COMMANDER FUEL INJECTION THROTTLE BODY SETUP WITH ALL PARTS, COST AT THAT TIME $1650. HAVE VIDEO OF ENGINE RUNNING WHEN REMOVED FROM THE OTHER CAR. NO, I WILL NOT SELL THE ENGINE SEPARATELY.
