1968 Pontiac Firebird 350 HO Additional Info:
1968 Firebird that I purchased from the third owner in 2013.It had some of the original paint still on it when we pulled it out of the barn, but other parts had been already repainted so the car has been repainted in the original verdoro green with camino ivory hard top. When being painted a very small amount of rust (literally a few ounces) on the body was removed and new metal put in. The trunk seal had leaked and so the trunk floor was replaced at the same time along with any dinged up chrome and badges.
The interior had been spray painted black so we replaced all of the interior except the rear side panels from which we removedthe spray paint. The center console is still the original as well. The steering wheel was bent so has been restored by "the steering wheel guy" in Canada who's work is featured occasionally in car magazines.
Besides those two things, since it was purchased, the car has had professional installation of:
New wiring harnessNew master cylinder, brakes and new front Disc Power BrakesVintage Air AC unitlocks and ignitionEdelbrock performer intake, carburetor, valve coversand camshaftNew windshield wiper motor
Car starts right up and runs fine. I took it on a 450 mile trip last fall without any issues. I have only driven it a few thousand miles but it has not used any oil in that driving. has the original 2 speed transmission, but does not have the original engine. This is (if memory serves) an early 70's 400.
This car is not perfect but looks and runs very well.
Issues we did not get to:
gas guage works intermittentlyodometer does not work although speedometer does work. so mileage is what is shown on the odometerI believe the metal loop that holds down the spare tire in the trunk is a little too far to the right.fit on hood and trunk lid are not as flush as they should be. They are close but some adjustment by a good body person can make them perfect. We still get some water in the trunk and have not figured out from where. It could be the trunk lid fit.
It is hard to guess what these cars are worth so have priced this based on looking at other Ebay sales. I have decided to sell it though so am happy to hearoffers for it. This car is for sale locally as well so we can end the sale earlier than the 21 day listing. If you have any questions at all the best way to get ahold of me is to email me at gregcarrier@yahoo.com or call me at five seven four 5245949.
