In the book of American Muscle, the 1964 Pontiac GTO is Chapter 1. What you see here is the genesis of the muscle car. This is the match that lit the automotive landscape on fire, and started a horsepower war that rages to this very day. The GTO broke GM's own rules about large displacement engines in intermediate sized cars. Up until the GTO's introduction, GM had banned any V8 larger than 330 CI from being placed in a mid size car. The Pontiac engineers laughed, and tossed that rule book over their shoulders as they lowered the 389 CI V-8 into the engine bay of the mid size LeMans body and brought the GTO to life. The gorgeous example you see here is packing the even more powerful "Tri-Power" setup, with three two barrel carburetors on a high performance manifold which raised the output of the 389 from 325hp to 348hp. Mated to the optional in 1964 four speed manual transmission, this GTO runs every bit as good as it looks. And what a looker it is. Gleaming is Cameo white with chrome Crager S/S mags and redline Michelin tires, this is one tiger that loves to shine. On the inside, the gorgeous blue vinyl bucket seats are separated with a full center console with locking storage compartment. This GTO is equipped with variable speed wipers, an AM/FM radio, and factory tinted glass. If you missed your chance in 1964 to get in on the ground floor of the horsepower wars, then don't let this opportunity pass you twice.
