Here is a very rare opportunity to own a completed KITT replica!
This car started life as a 1983 Daytona 500 Pace Car Edition Trans Am that I converted to a KITT replica from the TV series Knight Rider.
The conversion took place over 5 years - from 2010 to 2015. All work was done by myself with way too many new parts to list! The car runs and drives great! Floors are clean and solid - rare for a t-top! Paint and bodywork completed with PPG paint in a basecoat/clearcoat 2 stage finish.
The lights all work including the flip-up headlights which were upgraded to 1991 style. All new interior from Hawks Third Gen. New suspension and brakes, new windshield and new tires. A/C works, power antenna is functional. DVD/CD player with Bluetooth that is tied to one of the monitors on the dash.
Miles are just over 46,500 - you read that right! Those are original miles! Ws6 performance package. The mechanics are all factory original. The engine is a fuel injected 305 Crossfire and runs strong. The transmission is a 700r4 which is firm with no slips. It even still has the factory stainless steel mufflers!As seen in the photos, this car is very accurate to the series. Included is, as you see it, along with a car pc with gps, cameras, and software that can be programmed to actually have a conversation with KITT and have many of the cars electrical all run by voice commands and/or pushbutton on the touchscreen monitors! To be clear, he doesn't talk right now, but included is everything you will need to make him talk. I will also supply contacts for support of his many systems and resources for parts.
Dash and front nose are by Rob Louisell - the pioneer of the KITT replica world. Electronics are by ZA Ellettronica - fast becoming known as the best on the market. All KITT functions are powered by 2 deep cycle marine batteries for hours of operation without worrying about draining the main battery.
There are some minor issues, after all it is a 33 year old car! The fuel level sender doesn't work. I just fill it up every 150-200 miles. The transmission leaks if it sits for long periods. Cruise control is inop, and the left directional doesn't cancel on its own. Thats about it!
