1976 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX
This rust free New Mexico Grand Prix was purchase as a sleeper to build, a performer to ride and enjoy on an every day basis . First task was to upgrade traction and cornering handling. To do so, original wheels and bolting units were removed and replaced by a 1995 Chevrolet Police Pack car . In fact all the underneath suspension as complete real axel came from a 1995 Chevrolet Police Pack with a posi 3:23 ratio New disks brakes were added to the 4 corners as well as a bigger front sway bar from the same Chevrolet to upgrade the original one. To secure all this improvement, new performance shocks were installed and as well as new poly-bushings all around. This set-up use new disk brakes in the rear with a larger sway bar to match front set up handling package. Installed also are 4 new 2 inches drop Belltech coil springs to sit the car low. New 275-60-17 Toyo Proxes tires wrap the back while 225-55-17 tires complete the front. Naturally spare wheel/tire were replaced to accommodate new bolt pattern.
The 400 4BBL Engine was completely dismantled, each component verified and reassembled with a complete new engine quality gasket kit. Naturally all accessories were replaced/rebuild . So new timing chain, new valve seals, rebuild carb, new radiator, starter, alternator, hoses, clamps first crank and idles nice. Note a real dual exhaust was installed front to back by exchanging the original cross member with a previous year's one. All invoices/bills of improvement to follow the car from the build-up start. Note that also parking brake wire and internal shoe are brand new. As a bonus, new rally dash gages are given along with various other original parts.
Interior is nice and clean except for dash pad that will need to be replaced or use a «cap/cover» Installed. A covering sunblock mat was put on it. Car is equipped with console floor shift, working A/C (converted to R134), cruise control, tit steering,
As mentioned this car was built and meant to be a day to day performing sleeper so there will be place for improvement by his new owner. The car sits low and corners like on tracks. Paint is nice and overall shinny, moulding and crests are good. A new half vinyl top was installed but opera windows moulding to top to be replaced eventually. Rear bumper to be re chromed and other little aesthetic needs to be fulfilled in time. The important thing is to enjoy this turn key day to day fantastic driver. All original documentation/pamphlets of the car come with the sale as 1976 Owner's Grand Prix manual, 1976 Owner's General Information, GM Guardian Maintenance Service Mannual, 1976 Pontiac Maintenance Schedule etc. as seenin related pic.
