But, imply put, he true theme of the resto-mod movement is: the best of everything. And if there was ever a textbook example of a true-to-form resto-mod, his Plymouth Belvedere has to be it. Showcasing the hard work of very skilled enthusiasts who understand how to enhance the best attributes of a professional restoration, his exemplary coupe features a slew of top-shelf modifications. If you're in the market for an incredible classic that can be shown and driven with the best muscle cars on the road, ake a look at this tough GTX!
BODYWORK/TRIM
After spending most of its life as a clean driver, his awesome B-Body was the perfect starting point for a professional, -figure restoration that mixed a killer engine with classic MoPar attitude. The car's straight body was blasted bare, assaged to form and coated in POR-15 rust preventative. Once that shell was completely clean and fully prepped, uality primer was drenched in vibrant base and sealed in glossy clear. And today, his poised and polished Plymouth sits as one super slick road warrior that features a perfect combination of no-nonsense looks and vicious street manners.
Admittedly, he GTX was a little more ambiguous than Plymouth's famed Road Runner, ut a lot of people like that contrast and dig the model's upscale appearance. At the front of this hardtop, black-trimmed, ody-width grille hangs four halogen headlights above a mirrored bumper and clear parking lamps. Above that grille, fiberglass Hemi Super Stock Hood flows to an angular greenhouse that's framed in polished trim and modernized wipers. At the edges of that hood, lab sided panels hang a chrome driver's mirror and familiar pit stop fuel filler amid traditional door handles, actory fender emblems and dent-free rocker trim. And at the back of those panels, resh taillights center ornate trunk trim above polished exhaust tips and a second mirrored bumper.
ENGINE
The key to creating a sweet MoPar resto-mod is having LOTS of sweet MoPar power. Toss this Plymouth's lightweight hood and you'll find 477 cubic inches of Hemi big block that, ccording to the car's previous owner, oves to the tune of 676 horsepower and 665 lb./ft. of tire-melting torque! At the top of the block, duo of polished air cleaners forces wind in to coated Edelbrock Magneti Marelli carburetors, hich are cinched to an array of stainless fuel lines. At the base of those carbs, n aluminum intake feeds air and fuel to big aluminum heads, hich perch polished breathers on mirrored valve covers. At the front of those heads, n MSD Pro-Billet distributor sequences fire between an MSD Blaster 2 coil, SD 6AL ignition and MSD Super Conductor plug wires. At the base of that coil, snazzy March pulley system spins a billet power steering pump and polished Powermaster alternator at the sides of a big aluminum water pump. At the front of the engine bay, beefy Be Cool radiator makes good use of a painted support, billet expansion tank and three electric fans. At the sides of the block, oated long-tube headers usher spent gases in to rowdy exhaust pipes. There's an impressive roster of ancillaries that includes a Milodon oil pan, polished CPP master cylinder and a coated Edelbrock fuel pump. And aesthetically, he Jet Black mill provides an excellent contrast to the car's vibrant red fenders.
DRIVETRAIN/SUSPENSION
Like its slick exterior and clean engine bay, he bottom of this coupe is a great combination of past and present. The powerful engine sends thrust to a rugged Tremec 6-speed, hich wraps a tough hydraulic clutch in an SFI-certified blowproof bellhousing. That proven transmission twists a chrome-capped Dana 60, hich spins a posi-trac differential around 3.73 gears and high quality Moser axles. That drivetrain rides in a thoroughly massaged suspension that mixes a Reilly Motorsports front-half with VariShock coil-overs, delbrock shocks, irect Connection leaf springs and Competition Engineering traction bars. Turns come courtesy of power rack-and-pinion steering. Stops are provided by powdercoated Wilwood calipers, hich squeeze drilled and slotted rotors. 3-inch exhaust employs an H-shaped crossover in front of clean Dynomax mufflers. Torque meets the pavement through American Racing Custom 500s, hich spin 225/50R17 Nitto Extreme Performance redlines in front of 255/50R17 Nitto Extreme Performance redlines. And, n typical resto-mod fashion, here's a roster of great finishing components, ncluding stainless fluid lines, emi spring hangers, emi torque boxes and welded subframe connectors.
INTERIOR
Pop this Plymouth's tight-fitting doors and you'll find a standard Black interior that's been tastefully updated where necessary. Attractive bucket and bench seats wear fresh Legendary vinyl. In front of those mitts, custom Detroit Speed dash hangs Auto Meter Phantom telemetry above an MP3-compatible Pioneer CD player. At the base of that dash, factory console centers a Tremec-topped Hurst shifter. Beneath that console, ight carpet props color-keyed GTX floor mats on thick Dynamat insulation. Those components are framed by a fresh headliner and pliable Legendary door panels. The driver saws the twisties with a sophisticated aftermarket steering wheel, hich laps a tilting Ididit column. And behind the cockpit, he car's fully restored trunk hides a relocated Optima battery.
Are you looking for big power, reat handling and a tailored appearance that's fit to impress? Congratulations, ou've found your next classic! Fully sorted, oad-ready muscle cars don't get much nicer than this awesome Plymouth. And whether you choose to drive it or show it, his is one no-excuses MoPar that's sure to turn heads!
